The video embed tool works just fine. It would appear that the old addage about the poor workman blaming the tools is apropos here. :)

A YouTube embed tool SHOULD be smart enough to know the difference between the full URL and the video ID. It's not that hard to program it so that it does.

I agree with the "left" on some things and with the "right" on others. (The labels themselves are silly, anyway.) Makes no difference to me whether anyone thinks that constitutes the middle ground.
