Good call by the boss. You do not need employees who put their political beliefs ahead of their job

Twelve employees of Pei Wei Asian Diner at 54th Street and Ray Road in Chandler were fired after they skipped work to participate in a May 29 protest of the new immigration law Senate Bill 1070.

That was nearly half the staff at that restaurant, which has a workforce of about 30, said Pei Wei spokesman Peter Marino.

The fired workers violated a well-established Pei Wei attendance policy, he said.

"When employees choose not to show up for a scheduled shift and choose not to give notice, it causes tremendous disruption to fellow co-workers and impedes our ability to serve our guests," the company said in a statement.

At the same time, Pei Wei said it respects the rights of people to peacefully protest, and it does not comment on local, state or federal laws.

The Phoenix branch of a union, the Industrial Workers of the World, is giving moral and financial support to the fired workers, although the employees were not unionized.

If they were dumb enough not to call out, then yes, they should get fired.

I wonder if they will try and get unemployment? If they somehow get it, they can sit back and relax for up to 2 years the way Dems keep extending the benefits - like that will encourage people to go out and get a job

If they're fired for cause, which is what it sounds like they were fired for, they're going to have a hard time qualifying if the employer contests their filing.

Well, actually it'll be easier than you think, because they'll just sell a sob story about how they were missing work to attend a political rally. Unfortunately, you really can get what you want from our government if you just whinge about it long enough. Whether or not the people no call no showed, they'll likely end up getting benefits.

The liberal media will pick up their cause and run sob stories on how they are being abused.

Harry Reid may use some of them in campaign ads

Libs may protest outside the business

They may try to use this for political gain - but they got what they deserved. Now they stand in line at the unemployment line and watch Obama on TV telling them how the economy is getting better
