Who gave the order to the US Coast Guard? The White House perhaps? Some paperwork not filled out right?

Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor's wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.
"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.

"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.

I'm really starting to go along with the conspiracy theories on this whole gulf thing. This guy is looking more dangerous every day. Here's a way for him to destroy the economy of the entire south coast.

What is going on is easy to see. Obama NEEDS this disaster. He NEEDS victims. He NEEDS dead animals

All of it will help him ram thru Cap and Trade, the increased government power, and the tax increases

This is what libs like Obama live for. The more misery the better for them and their agenda

I think it goes a lot deeper than just cap and trade and the usual government power grab. This is either ineptitude of the highest order or, as I believe, much more sinister, like crippling the economy permanently. Having an excuse for martial law, something on that order.

Plus, do we really know what caused the initial "explosion?"

That has never been reported. That alone should have been the biggest news of all.

Here's just an example of one of the plausible theories out there.

I read that before. It's actually the only explanation given by any media as to what caused the explosion. Nobody is reporting anything. There was an explosion, 11 people died, the rig sank. BP is blamed for cutting corners but no explanation of what corners were cut to cause an explosion. And very interesting that the reports come from russian sources.

Wrong.

This is actually the worst possible thing that could happen to cap and trade.

Cap and trade was about to finally be passed. One of the biggest components to the compromise allowing its passage - the sweetener added for the Republicans and oil companies - was that more offshore drilling would be allowed. That's off the table now. So cap and trade is presently dead in the water as a result of the spill.

Cap and Trade (i.e Cap and Tax) never had much of a chance. With the $1 increase in the Federal gas tax - it had some libs opposing it

Obama's speech was nothing more then a infomercial for his mega tax bill

Obama allowed the spill to grow - but it got out of controal. Obama turned down help from other nations, he refused to talk to anyone with BP until his approval number took a hit, and now he still plays golf and talks alot about more government regualtion and higher taxes on energy

Yes, he wanted this spill and he is using it to push another part of his social agenda

Here's something that offers a possible explanation.
