My daughter learned about Memorial Day in school and wanted to know more about it. So I set her up to spent today with my dad's best friend, who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He offered to take her to a ceremony and a veteran's meeting.
Danielle came home very excited about a half-hour ago. Orange County veterans held a huge ceremony where she got to be a flag bearer. It was obviously very inspiring.
We also celebrated my daughter's birthday on May 30. We had a huge cookout in our backyard with lots of food and cake.
Good to celebrate Memorial Day with people of German, Mexican, Pakistani, Russian and Iranian ancestry.
