Primary voter turnout across Kentucky on Tuesday appeared to be falling short of the predicted 30 percent, according to Les Fugate, a spokesman for the Secretary of State's office. In Jefferson County, turnout was predicted at 20 percent to 25 percent.
"There were more than 6,000 candidates who filed, so we expected a high turnout," said Fugate, who warned that there could still be a last-minute rush. "But so far it just hasn't been the case."
