Dems are getting there. The IRS confirms the top 1% of earners pay 40% of all Federal Income taxes. That, of course, does not include Social Secuirty taxes, Medicare taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes, state taxes, and local taxes

Many people in this country easily lose half their income to the government

And Dems are demanding more from them despite their current tax burden
