Another liberal calls for the Federal government to step in and silence those who openly disagree with them

After what the Dems did to ram thru Obamacare, it would not shock me if they carried out Sgt Schult's wishes

hey, apparently the guy that is in charge of "Free Press" has the same views and gets to go the FCC. it's a-coming. might be quick. might be slowly but surely. but it's coming.

having listened to that... boo-freakin-hoo. maybe if people agreed with you they would listen more. and then you could eventually own stations. And about the level playing field... again... cry me a rive. If people wanna listen to you, they will find away. maybe you should offer streaming broadcast. And Rush "campaning" against Obama and dems.. heaven forbid he voices his opinion and not want the people he doesn't want in. Maybe the MSM should remember that.

Libs should have done this as soon as they came into office. That way, all debate and discussuon about what was really in the stimulus bill, Cash for Clunkers, the soaring deficit, the rising unemployment numbers, and the contents of Obamacare would never have seen the light of day

They want to reestablish the soviet news agency tass. It's already up and running, called msnbc for now. All they have to do is shut down all the conservative radio shows. FOX will be brought into line by throwing out all the conservatives there.

Welcome to the USSA.

I can see government seizures of FCC licenses for failure to pay a fine or some ridiculous law they make up. They will shut down the radio station and it will take years for the court appeals to go through. At which time, the opposing voices are unheard and the dissidents will dissolve. At least thats the soviet model. They could go the Castro/Chavez route and just kill the guys that oppose them.

They will try the soviet mode first and then start the killing.

Like most liberals, Sgt Schultz is pissed off that their ratings stink, and they can;t build an audience

So their natural reaction, being big government liberals, is to have a law passed to stifle the competition

They actually believe people can be FORCED to listen to them

For example listen to what Bill Press (another liberal talk show host with low ratings) had to say

What these clowns forget is that their brand of journalism, even if force fed to the public, will fall on deaf ears. If there were a market for their rhetoric, they would have an audience. Forcing their opposition underground will only make them less credible and increase the audience of the other side.

Bil Press whined how DC did not have a liberal talk radio station - well they did, and his show was carried by the station

Why did it fail?

Liberal Flameout

President Obama may be riding high in Washington, but OBAMA 1260 is not.

The area's only progressive talk station is changing formats, dropping such syndicated liberal hosts as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Bill Press in favor of financial news, starting next week.

The move by Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who purchased the station, WWRC, and others in Washington last summer, leaves the city without a liberal radio outlet. Program Director Greg Tantum says he thought the station could work because of enthusiasm over Obama, but that ratings collapsed to a level that could not be measured after the election.

But ratings nearly doubled, he says, at Snyder's conservative station, WTNT, which features Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett. Tantum said he will move Schultz to WTNT to give him another shot.

and RFK JR blames Pres Reagan for Fox news, conservative talk radio, and why we need the government to step in

Hero of the right, President Ronald Reagan, is no hero to Kennedy. "He had the gift of making people feel comfortable with their own prejudices."

Many of the problems of today, Kennedy traced back to actions taken by Reagan. Kennedy believes the American people are fed a media diet of right-wing propaganda, and it "all started in 1988 when Ronald Reagan abolished the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine said that the airwaves belong to the public. They were public-trust assets, like air and water, and broadcasters could be licensed to use them" but they must use them in the public interest and to advance democracy.

If the Fairness Doctrine was still in place, "You could not have a Fox News," he said, nor a Rush Limbaugh, for that matter. But the doctrine is gone and Fox and Limbaugh are here. Quoting Pew Research, Kennedy said, 30 percent of Americans now get their news from talk radio, which is 90 percent dominated by the right. Another large number of Americans say their primary news source is Fox News, which Kennedy clearly believed would be better named Faux News.

Kennedy said as a result of that doctrine being abolished, six giant multinational corporations control all 14,000 radio stations in the States, almost all 6,000 TV stations, 80 percent of the newspapers, all billboards, and most of the Internet information services. News departments are corporate profit centers with their only obligations being to the shareholders and not to the public.

Sounds like RFK Jr. is spewing some sour grapes. Fits right in with the rest of the lib philosophy.
