WASHINGTON - Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Barack Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.
By 49 percent-40 percent those surveyed say it was “a good thing” rather than a bad one that Congress passed the bill. Half describe their reaction in positive terms, as “enthusiastic” or “pleased,” while about four in 10 describe it in negative ways, as “disappointed” or “angry.”
The largest single group, 48 percent, calls the bill “a good first step” that should be followed by more action on health care. An additional 4 percent also have a favorable view, saying the bill makes the most important changes needed in the nation's health care system.
To be sure, the nation remains divided about the massive legislation that narrowly passed the House late Sunday and was signed by Obama in an emotional East Room ceremony Tuesday morning. The Senate began debate Tuesday afternoon on a package of “fixes” demanded by the House.
The findings are encouraging for the White House and congressional Democrats, who get higher ratings than congressional Republicans for their work on the issue. The poll shows receptive terrain as the White House and advocacy groups launch efforts to sell the plan, including a trip by Obama to Iowa on Thursday.
No one gets overwhelmingly positive ratings on the issue, but Obama fares the best: 46 percent say his work has been excellent or good; 31 percent call it poor. Congressional Democrats get an even split: 32 percent call their efforts good or excellent; 33 percent poor.
The standing of congressional Republicans is more negative. While 26 percent rate their work on health care as good or excellent, a larger group, 34 percent, say it has been poor.

Oh I see how it is.
When polls don't favor the Democrats and the President those daily surveys are the God's Truth and a testament to to a learned electorates true and unyielding opposition to those ebil soshwist Demokrats.
But when they favor Obama, those people who just yesterday "knew better" are now "sheep" and Rasmussen is the messiah who is all-knowing and is perfect in judging the views of the American people.

I'll dumb it down a bit.
Polls are a snapshot of how people feel that moment, they change all of the time. For several months now, the right-wing and the GOP have lauded every single poll that has sided against the reform plan. (And ignored all the survery that indicated support for the public option.)
Now that a new one has come out suggesting the majority is satisfied with what is now law, it's silly to suddenly start calling them "sheep". Americans are allowed to change their minds without being "sheep".

Since December 2009, the polls have never supported Obamacare
Even a recent CNN poll finds 59% oppose Obamacare

Americans will soon find out, like the stimulus bill and Cash for Clunkers, all we got is more debt added to the nations credit card - and nothing to show for it

Oh, look, more proof that LNs OP is complete garbage! (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=a2R1ChNYjoag)
The devil is in the details.
If you read the poll numbers the OP links to, you will see that the margin for error is +/- 4 % .... do the math and this overly optimistic poll could very easily show an even split. It would also be interesting to see the details of the poll ... demographics, the way the question(s) is/are worded, etc. all could very easily shade the result.
Polls don't mean a whole lot unless they are the result of an election.

.
LN you are soo full of crap on this one. the following lik shows the polls of the top polling centers be them left or right.
say what you want about realclearpolitics.com but they put it all together.
They come up with 39.7 in favor and 50.4 against. that in NO WAY reflects what you stated in your OP..
Gallup has 45 favor and 48 against... where did this paper dig up their numbers???????
NO POLLING CENTER HAS A FAVORABLE OUTLOOK FOR THE HEALTH CARE BILL..

I think polls are lame as they only give the figures from a selected group rather than polling the entire population.
