LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Police say a Fayette County teacher has been arrested on drug charges.
Lexington police say 28-year-old Ashley Alyson Delaney was charged Monday with trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, cultivation of more than five marijuana plants and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that police say 31-year-old Jeremy M. Byard, who was with Delaney at the time of her arrest, also faces the same charges.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the Fayette County Public Schools says Delaney has been suspended from her job as a seventh-grade language arts and arts-humanities teacher at Crawford Middle School pending an investigation.
