View Full Version : Long Live Toyota...It's a HIT JOB!

Have you noticed the repeated coverage over the last 2 weeks on the Toyota recall? Or the multiple Government announcements on Toyota? I've never seen such attention payed to a recall in my entire life and now they, GM (Government Motors), are calling for an investigation after 180 complaints. 180 complaints on the best selling car in the USA? Go figure. Strange ain't it?
Looks to me like a real hit job by GM (Government Motors) to squash the competition.
Watch and see if Nissan isn't next then Honda.
BTW..I didn't put this in the conspiracy "theory" section because I don't think it's a theory at all.

It certainly has a smell to it, doesn't it? Washington gives people the best government that money can buy, and with the failing dollar we are getting some slap happy, keystone cops government.

We have been discussing this and I feel the same way. Just look at the number of recalls GM/Ford/Chrysler have had over the years. They quitley recall the cars without "congressional hearings"
I think it is most defintely a hit job by our government!!! They are trying to stifle one of the best auto manufactures in the world by making them look bad....
Just wait until the payback!!!!!!!

Toyota's a non-union shop, and Obama's bought and paid for by the unions. That explains everything, and I'm no fan of foreign cars.

No doubt the unions have their fingers in this along with others I'm sure.

Then again I don't think he knows what a "scab" really is.

I've owned 3 Toyotas, a Camry and 2 Corollas, over the course of nearly 23 years. I had to give up the Camry to my ex when we divorced, but she drove it until it was at least 10 years old. I drove one of the Corollas until it had nearly 150,000 miles on it and I'm driving the 2nd Corolla now.
I owned the 1st Corolla for almost 10 years. I bought the 2nd Corolla used in 1998 and I'm still driving it.
I can't say that I've ever had any major problems with any of them except for having to replace parts as they got older (as in having over 125,000 miles on them).
I bought my first Toyota in 1987. Before that, I owned a Chrysler K-car that I bought new in 1981 and had a hand-me-down Pontiac from my parents before that. I can say without a doubt that I spent more in repairs on the K-car and the Pontiac in 10 years than I did on the three Toyotas in 23. That's how reliable they've been in my experience. The K-car was one of the worst pieces of junk I ever had.. but I didn't want to buy a foreign made car at the time. The Pontiac may have been better but my dad isn't a big believer in maintenance.... I think I arrived too late to do it any good.
Would I buy another Toyota? You bet, in a heartbeat and without a doubt!

There is no doubt of a conflict of interest with the Government bad mouthing Toyota right and left.
Anyone who thinks this is ok, better keep in mind that if there should be complaints on a GM car safety wise, it's not in the government's interest to let the public know-a costly mistake on their 'investment.' There is no shame in this administration, just hubris.

I'm saying any American who would patronize a company which chose to employ non-union labor rather than union members is an unpatriotic American. Union labor made America great.

Unions didn't build this Country Labor and Capitalism did!
You do realize that "most" people in the USA still don't work for a union don't ya, Slow Joe? Unions have been on their death bed for yrs now..All You're hearing is the FINAL gasps of death.
Unpatriotic Americans my ass! Most people don't want anything to do with these crooks! That's GOOD NEWS.

Of course I know union membership is down, Mr. Pea-brain.
When a larger portion of the workforce was unionized, a family could have a middle-class lifestyle on one income. Now, in your un-unionized paradise, a family needs two incomes and that's often not enough to enjoy a middle-class lifestye.
See where anti-unionism has gotten us, Mr. Pea-brain?

Union membership is part of the reason that jobs went overseas.
Driving up the cost of labor does not equate to more jobs (except in India and China)

A lot of things drive globalization but greed is, indeed, a major factor. That doesn't mean workers should cave-in to capitalists. It means we have to be more conscientious in determining our trade policies. One thing we could do is put high tariffs on things we can make or do in this country. American jobs should go to American workers.

Sure, because we are so self-sufficient. Perhaps you have money to spend frivolously, probably still living with your folks and all, but many of us need the lower prices to feed and clothe our families.

Are the Chevy's, Fords and Chryslers built in other countries built by UAW Union Labor?
Toyota trucks are as or more American built than Chevy's, Ford's and Dodges.
I've owned GM, Ford and Dodge trucks over the last 20+ years. I'm a 25 year union member and I bought a Toyota Tundra because it was better than any of the other 3 and it was as much ore American than than the other 3.
I've had UAW employees try to harm or kill me while working as a union contractor in their plants because I was taking away their ability to sabotage the assembly lines. I'm of the opinion after having worked many years around the UAW that the UAW is a cancer that is killing America. The only unions that I have any respect for are the building trades.

Smoot-Hawley Tarriffs, 1930...

high tarriffs slapped on foreign goods. Guess what happened? Foreign counties slapped high tarriffs on American goods. The result was worsening unemployment in this country.
What makes you think that other countries won't retaliate with high tarriffs?

Are the Chevy's, Fords and Chryslers built in other countries built by UAW Union Labor?
UAW members build GM trucks in Canada. I don't know how many "American" cars are built abroad by non-union labor and then imported to the US. I know some are. Buying them is as bad as buying a "foreign" care.
Toyota trucks are as or more American built than Chevy's, Ford's and Dodges.
As I noted, they're built by scab labor in red states so they are partially American but only partially. I good part of the overhead in them is imported from Japan, etc.
I've owned GM, Ford and Dodge trucks over the last 20+ years. I'm a 25 year union member and I bought a Toyota Tundra because it was better than any of the other 3 and it was as much ore American than than the other 3.
Then you're not a patriotic American. You've placed you own narrow interests about those of your country.
Anecdotes are entertaining but have little probative value of UAW offenses. I'm sure others could come-up with stories of the lives saved by the benefits won by UAW members. For instance, we might find some small child who received medical care as a the result of a union contract. Without the union, she would be dead.

Smoot-Hawley is a boogieman conjured-up whenever someone says "tariff." Sure they'll retaliate. So what? Better to protect American jobs than worry about the cost of Audis and Nikes.

interesting,
Not directing this at anybody, just thinking out loud,
Seems the only thing worse than a Huge money grubbing heartless monopoly is a Huge Power mad leaching Union (and Socialist totalitarian state). Looks like Jefferson was right and Hamilton was way wrong. Small local economies and self sufficiency are probably a better set-up than any arrangement of large centralized organizations. Nothings perfect but it seems BIG Federal Gov't, BIG corporations, BIG banks, BIG unions, the BIG political parties, are all a bit out of touch and have all caused a world of hurt ... and more coming. God help us all.

Do you own a TV? A PC? A blender? Do you check to be sure that all your purchases are union built?

Really?
http://www.gallup.com/poll/122744/labor-unions-sharp-slide-public-support.aspx
PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup finds organized labor taking a significant image hit in the past year. While 66% of Americans continue to believe unions are beneficial to their own members, a slight majority now say unions hurt the nation's economy. More broadly, fewer than half of Americans -- 48%, an all-time low -- approve of labor unions, down from 59% a year ago.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/123101/americans-likely-say-government-doing-too-much.aspx
PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans are more likely today than in the recent past to believe that government is taking on too much responsibility for solving the nation's problems and is over-regulating business. New Gallup data show that 57% of Americans say the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to businesses and individuals, and 45% say there is too much government regulation of business. Both reflect the highest such readings in more than a decade.
Joe, get out of the basement once in awhile.
