On our second round of the storm. Wish I could get my pictures on the hard drive to show you all. Anyway, when all is said and done, it looks like we will have about 2 feet again. Snow pretty!

So, anyway, my husband is staying in a hotel in Philly overnight so he can be in the office in the morning for some big IT situation. Our daughter is at college, so here I am am- just me and the cat for 2 days, and more importantly, one night. Wonder what I will do all night? Especially if the power goes out. I've already collected candles and matches and have laid a fire.

What would you do if you had no power and were all alone all night?

That sounds so nice- but Delaware has banned driving to all except emergency vehicles and plows, and people who work in such fields. Plus, I don't think I can dig my car out of all the snow already there.

I'm here with my dog all the time. Nothing new for me. If the power goes out I'll fire up the kerosene heater and light candles and read. Be sure to keep the faucets to a low drip so the pipes don't freeze.

THANK YOU Gaffer for that reminder! We've had frozen pipes before. Uggh.
I will go start the dripping now.

No problem, people often forget about the pipes. :thumb:

As long as the electric stays on I'll play on my computer. I always keep a stash of books on hand for days with no electric though. For cooking I have a gas grill on the back porch.

I have a flashlight and a lantern I use. Both operate by cranking them. There's a small handle that pulls out of the base to crank and then it can be pushed back into location. I keep them near me so when the light dims, I crank them again. Hubby got them for me last year. Don't know where but I would think a sporting goods store would carry them... When I know a storm is coming, I bring a lot of wood into the house, find my matches and make sure I have something to eat that doesn't require cooking. And there's always a blanket nearby. Until the storm hits I just play online or watch the tube. And I always have a book ready as well.....

Build a fire and crank up the generator. :salute:

If power goes out, I'd get mucho candles and put the oven on in the kitchen, maybe even make some cookies. ;) I like to read by candle light or fire light, puts me to sleep very quickly!

You asked for it!

If it were me, I would get my best porn out and enjoy the solo time! If the power went out, I still have a vintage collection of Playboy magazines! LOL

Other than that I would have to bore myself with my Ipod until the battery died. Then I'd be relegated to going outside and 4 wheeling or tossing snowballs at the dumbasses like me who are out driving in this shit!

We have about 10 inches thus far and still coming strong. Been out 2x already as I needed to go to CVS for my medication... My kitchen sink died today too. One of the slip screws that tighten the piping to the sinking rotted and broke, leaving a nice mess. Without that, no sink and no dishwasher which drains through that pipe. So I went to the hardware store too.

Gonna brave it again after dinner to go back to CVS to get some Ben Gay and the stick on heat pads. I think I broke a vertebrae while shoveling today!

Geez, Jim, you have done more than your share today.
You definitely deserve some relaxation time (however that occurs for you)

Goodness Jim, don't you bend with your knees, rather than your back, when shoveling and lifting... Having a very bad back myself from a long ago fall, I can relate to back pain...Serious ouchies....When the back hurts all else is moot.
