Big Biz/Big Guv luv: Look who’s coming to Martha Coakley’s aid now; DSCC pours in $576,000; Update: DNC to dump $500k; Ds in panic; Rasmussen shows two-point gap

Well, well, well. The Big Pharma lobbyists and health care special interests are digging deep into their pockets to help out flailing Mass. Democrat Senate candidate Martha Coakley.

The Washington Examiner’s Tim Carney, author of the investigative tour de force Obamanomics, has the scoop on the corporate socialist soiree in D.C.:

With Democrat Martha Coakley in trouble in the Massachusetts special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat, Democrats could lose vote No. 60 for President Obama’s health-care bill. In response, an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley next Tuesday night. The invitation is at right (click here for a better view).

Of the 22 names on the host committee–meaning they raised $10,000 or more for Coakley–17 are federally registered lobbyists, 15 of whom have health-care clients. Of the other five hosts, one is married to a lobbyist, one was a lobbyist in Pennsylvania, another is a lawyer at a lobbying firm, and another is a corporate CEO. Oh, and of course, there’s also the political action commitee for Boston Scientific Corporation.

All the leading drug companies have lobbyists on Coakley’s host committee: Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Astra-Zeneca, and more. On the insurance side of things, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, HealthSouth, and United Health all are represented on the host committee.
Remember: Corporate shills for Hope and Change get a pass by the dinosaur media. They won’t spread the word. So be sure that you do.

Related Mass. Senate news…

- A reader e-mails:

I received this this morning from my Team Sarah friend in Mass. This is the 2nd report of truckloads of signs showing up at debates by Unions…the first one the signs showed up and only 1/2 dozen union guys did. Brown’s peeps were crowded and wrapped around the block!

“I was one of the many Brigadiers at the pre-debate rally at UMass and when I got there, I was pretty overwhelmed at the trailer truck of Martha signs and hundreds of union members holding them. While speaking with one of the union guys holding the Coakley sign, he admitted that his union was paying him $50 to stand and hold the sign. I was blown away, I always thought that these guys were out in the cold like us, doing what we thought was the right thing to do, not that they were actually being paid a fee to do it.

The best part was when he admitted that although he was there because he needed the money, he was voting for Scott!!”*Update: Video here.*

Brown actually winning this would be a game changer. I don't expect it, but won't be surprised if it happens. Perhaps, maybe, Massachusetts' voters are just as disgusted as the rest of us. Sounds wild, but ahem, they were where the first revolution began...

This is a state that Dem's win by large margins, if this guy even comes close to winning it should put the Dem's on notice. The American people are sick and tired of career politicians who want to spend, spend, spend with no thought as to how they're going to pay for it.

Joe taxpayer is getting sick of being taxed to death because our politicians can't work within a budget.

Mass. may be a slightly tougher liberal nut to crack than NJ, but there is obviously hope.

Actually, they might be. I mean, when you look at how bad this whole thing is going with this country, at this point I wouldn't take any bets on the outcome of any election.

People are getting tired of the bullshit from both sides, and as a result, I would guess, we are starting to see more sensible people get fed up and try to take office themselves. It is the natural state of things in our country to change, which is why I hate whenever some idiot gets up there with the slogan "change", because they're really saying they'll just do things like we always do them.
