After ignoring the Van Jones and ACORN stories, the NY Times has now "fixed" the problem by hiring someone to watch and listen to "right wing media"

I guess now the NY Times will now be up to speed on current events

The Public Editor
Tuning In Too Late

ON Sept. 12, an Associated Press article inside The Times reported that the Census Bureau had severed its ties to Acorn, the community organizing group. Robert Groves, the census director, was quoted as saying that Acorn, one of thousands of unpaid organizations promoting the 2010 census, had become “a distraction.”

What the article didn’t say — but what followers of Fox News and conservative commentators already knew — was that a video sting had caught Acorn workers counseling a bogus prostitute and pimp on how to set up a brothel staffed by under-age girls, avoid detection and cheat on taxes. The young woman in streetwalker’s clothes and her companion were actually undercover conservative activists with a hidden camera.

It was an intriguing story: employees of a controversial outfit, long criticized by Republicans as corrupt, appearing to engage in outrageous, if not illegal, behavior. An Acorn worker in Baltimore was shown telling the “prostitute” that she could describe herself to tax authorities as an “independent artist” and claim 15-year-old prostitutes, supposedly illegal immigrants, as dependents.

But for days, as more videos were posted and government authorities rushed to distance themselves from Acorn, The Times stood still. Its slow reflexes — closely following its slow response to a controversy that forced the resignation of Van Jones, a White House adviser — suggested that it has trouble dealing with stories arising from the polemical world of talk radio, cable television and partisan blogs. Some stories, lacking facts, never catch fire. But others do, and a newspaper like The Times needs to be alert to them or wind up looking clueless or, worse, partisan itself.

Some editors told me they were not immediately aware of the Acorn videos on Fox, YouTube and a new conservative Web site called BigGovernment.com. When the Senate voted to cut off all federal funds to Acorn, there was not a word in the newspaper or on its Web site. When the New York City Council froze all its funding for Acorn and the Brooklyn district attorney opened a criminal investigation, there was still nothing.

Readers noticed. James Jeff Crocket of New Britain, Conn., spoke for many when he said he was sure he knew why the paper was silent: “protecting the progressive movement.”

Finally, on Sept. 16, nearly a week after the first video was posted, The Times took note of the controversy, under the headline, “Conservatives Draw Blood From Acorn, Favored Foe.” The article said that conservatives hoped to weaken the Obama administration by attacking its allies and appointees they viewed as leftist. The conservatives thought they had a “winning formula,” the article said, mobilizing people “to dig up dirt,” then trumpeting it on talk radio and television.

If the person is an actual thinking person and not intellectually bankrupt or dishonest they will become a Conservative just from the overwhelming common sense they will hear and read. However since its the NYT it will be some intellectually dishonest political hack that will spin the truth into something that could only come from the minds of leftist lunatics.

No one has ever denied the existence of World Net Daily, or Free Republic, or Rush Limbaugh or The National Review.....hardly main stream.....
As a matter of fact its only the lefties that see the need to deny the reality of left-wing main-stream media and newspapers.....

I have never said that ANY news source was "neutral". YOu don't need to be "neutral" to remain basically "factual".

And it is the most popular cable news network.

And we don't deny Fox carries some programming that trumpets the conservative line....namely Hannity and Glenn Beck....2 programs hardly constitute a right-wing network.....its news programs are more "fair and balanced' than any other news programs on tv....O'Reilly has more liberal guests on than conservatives and they always have their say......
That can't be said of any other comparable program on tv......

CCN didn't get the nickname "Clinton News Network" for nothing...and thats about the only news channel that comes close to "fair and balanced".....and even they admit a left leaning slant.....
No one even disputes the liberal slant of ABC, NBC or CBS....not only in news coverage, but in normal entertainment programming.....such as Leno and Letterman......

Like MSNBC passing off a black man carrying a rifle, as a white man....not just implying that misconception but telling the lie right out loud in plain english...

THIS on their 'so called' news program....

Even the most biased news anchor can and should do his job in a professional manner...that is, present the news in a FAIR AND BALANCED way.....present FACT and NOT OPINION.....INTERVIEW BOTH SIDES OF AN ISSUE FAIRLY

You see Virgil, libs like yourself overlook what the job of reporters are. They are to report the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the days events

NOT slant it to fit their ideology, and push an agenda

People know damn well the liberal media was supporting Obama, and did all they could to carry him accross the finish line
