Even the statement made last week that every American would be required to have health insurance is a statement that every American will be taxed to finance healthcare. If the government is telling me how to spend my money it is a tax. In this case, it's a body tax that we're required to pay with taxed income from a taxed employer. Of course, the insurance companies will also have to pay taxes and there will certainly be a tax on the transaction. And don't forget that if you actually have to drive to the insurance offices to pay your bill you'll have to pay taxes on the gas you use and (in Oregon) the miles you drive. Have a nice day!
