I had one of my parathyroid glands removed because it was extremely overactive and screwing up my calcium levels.

I'm going to be having that done in the next couple months. How did it work out for you? See any changes?

yeah... they took out one, after they did an ultrasound to determine which one was the "hottest" and after they did, my calcium levels returned to normal almost immediately and have stayed that way for six years or so.

It is an absolutely painless procedure....outpatient... I had a little lump on my neck for about a month or so, but it went away and the scar, if you could even call it that, has completely disappeared.

My blood calcium has been high for 2 years or so. Nothing would bring it down to where it was supposed to be. So my doctor had some other blood work done and sent me to a specialist. The other potential symptoms were masked by my electrical injury. I'm actually kind of excited to see how this all turns out.

It sounds like a pretty simple procedure. There can be allot of physical and cognitive effects from high blood calcium. I'm hoping that surgery addresses some of my issues.

Well I had my surgery last week and I have felt lousy ever since. Now my calcium levels are too low so I'm taking supplements, I'm more fatigued than before the surgery and I have a large grape sized lump on throat where the 1-1/2" incision was made.

They say it will take about a month for my body to balance things out again. The parathyroid gland they removed was 100 times the size it was supposed to be according to the doctor.

Its interesting that when your calcium is low it makes your feet, hands and face tingle like they are asleep.
