I hear different boards make that reference. Is a sock puppet a person who posts at a board with multiple user names? Or is a sock puppet someone with one user name who goes to boards to just instigate debates/arguments for fun?

I understand sock puppet to mean someone who starts a second personality on the same board secretly....generally for the purpose of misleading fellow board members about what they are saying.....for an example, an atheist might make a new account with some name like ObeyObeyObey for the purpose of making it seem that Christianity is so loathsome that no one should pay attention to it.......
