Made an impulse purchase last night. Costco had an open-box Sharp Aquos LC-C5255 for a couple hundred bucks off, so we took it. We'd been looking for a bedroom TV for some time; originally planned to spend about $800 tops, for a 42-ish inch LCD, but this one wasn't much more, and the 52" screen works GREAT from our about 10-15ft viewing distance. We have a Magnavox (Phillips) 42" 1080p in the living room - works great, because we're much closer to it there. I giggle inside when I see folk buying 50+" TVs for their living rooms or other rooms and sitting 4-5' from it! :) Waste!!

I had been researching and wanted 120hz TV and 50000:1 contrast, so I didn't quite get what i wanted. But..the size. :)

So far the pic looks GREAT - as good as it can based on the input we're getting from DirectTV.

Now we're in the market for a good theatre system. I've had my eye on one from Klipsch - not too massive, but solid equipment.

Would still need a surround receiver, however. Have Harmon/Karden in the livingroom - any suggestions? I tend to like stuff from Denon, HK, and have experience with Quad, Adcom, Carver in the past.

there's the truth.....when my son came home from Florida he brought his 42", we used it to replace the old set I had in the basement....the couch is about 8 feet away from the TV and I really don't enjoy watching it because it seems too close.....when he moves and takes it away I think I will go 37" max......
