WASHINGTON - With companies in no mood to hire, the unemployment rate jumped to 9.4 percent in May, the highest in more than 25 years. But the pace of layoffs eased, with employers cutting 345,000 jobs, the fewest since September.

The much smaller-than-expected reduction in payroll jobs, reported by the Labor Department on Friday, adds to evidence that the recession is loosening its hold on the country. It marked the fourth straight month that the pace of layoffs slowed.

Still, the increase in the nation's unemployment rate underscores the difficulties that America's 14.5 million unemployed are having in finding new jobs.

and while the unemployment rate is going up, the liberal media is giving glowing headlines that unemployment claims are going down

and as libs said during the Bush years, the unemployment numbers do not include those who have given up trying to find a job

So many more people are enjoying the benefits of Obama's hope and change

No Emmet, the government is adding jobs by the tens of thousands. No that libs are un charge, they are expandng the numbers since they are union members, and Obama needs them to pad the payroll and budget

Obama said that we had to pass the "Stimulus" bill immediately - so fast not a single person who voted for it actually read it - and if we did unemployment would not go above 8%.

Well he was wrong, and we expect to believe his future economic outllook?
