A 45 yr old man, Robert Stewart, killed 8 people at a Carthage, North carolina nursing home Sunday. His Ex-Wife, Wanda luck, was employed at the home and reports do not confirm whether she was there or not. It appears that one of the shooting victims was a nurse at the home.

What a coward! This parasite shot elderly defenseless people whose capacities were greatly challenged to begin with. Luckily he was confronted and shot by a young police officer before able to do further damage. In the exchange, the police officer, Justin Garner, was wounded in the leg.

What a coward!
Aren' t they all? When was the last time one of these madmen tried a mass shooting at a police station? Or an army base? Or a rifle range? Or any such place where he faced people armed as he is?

Actually that has happened... but it's EXTREMELY rare, compared to the times they shoot up school kids, people in "No guns allowed" shopping centers, office buildings, churches etc.

They always shoot up people with less capabilities than themselves (i.e. the capability to kill someone at a distance, polished and ready to use).

Luckily he was confronted and shot by a young police officer before able to do further damage.
HUH??? He killed eight people and wounded many more. HE ALREADY DID "FURTHER DAMAGE"!!!

That's not to belittle what the policeman did. He got there as fast as he could, put his life on the line, got injured, but kept his cool, and stopped the madman before even more innocents could be killed. He was great, no two ways about it.

But he did not stop the madman "before he was able to do further damage". There was no way any police officer could do that, even excellent ones like Officer Garner. Because they're NOT THERE when the shooting of innocents starts. And madman or not, these mass murderers have a habit of making sure no cops are around when they start shooting.

"Further damage" to me, means anyone who gets shot AFTER the very first shot is fired.

The ONLY way to prevent "further damage", is to let any law-abiding citizen who wants to, carry a weapon that can stop such madmen. Even if that's done, most people will not carry one, of course. But a few will... and the madman will have no way of knowing which ones they are. But he'll know that, somewhere in that crowded plaza, there's probably one or two people who are armed and know how to use their weapons. They might be employees, might be some of the more cognizant patients. And he'll have no idea where the bullet might come from, that stops his little parade barely after it starts.

These madmen are obviously not afraid to die. Many of them shoot themselves when police finally start closing in (though this one at the nursing home didn't). But what they do want to do, is make a huge, horrible scene that grabs national attention. And if they face the prospect of finding a few new holes in their heads after shooting only one or two people, then they know their goal of creating lots of "further damage" probably won't succeed.

It's enough to make a madman find another line of work. And if it doesn't, it's usually enough to stop him and prevent "further damage".

Cops, even brave ones like Garner, are clearly NOT enough.
