Today on Glenn Beck, Peter Johnson, Jr., was on to discuss the complete Constitutional violation of U.S. Army MPs being sent to Alabama recently. Beck's show contacted everybody to find out who sent them, but nobody seemed to know. It's also a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, but who knows who called it?

Saw this the other day on the show. Following the killings in Alabama, 23 MPs showed up in one local town to provide law enforcement.
So if Obama is the commander and chief, can he now be impeached for actually violating the Posse Comitatus Act?
I mean this is an actual law that can be applied and according to the wording of the law was actually violated.

The police chief requested them because he didn't have the manpower. The story characterizes their role as a "non-law enforcement support" role.

I have a feeling this police chief and the local base commander are going to find themselves in hot water in the next few days, as I believe the exception to Posse Comitatus Act must be made by Congress, not local law enforcement, and while the MP's didn't arrest anyone, their simple presence can be interpreted as a law enforcement role.
So if Obama is the commander and chief, can he now be impeached for actually violating the Posse Comitatus Act?No. Not unless you really expect the CiC to be held responsible for every single crime committed by any military officer.

(Republican Alabama Governor)Riley isn't concerned whether the military overstepped its bounds, said Press Secretary Jeff Emerson.
"From what I understand it was a few folks who came to direct traffic or help where they could," Emerson said. "If it had been more than what it was there might be a reason for concern, but these folks just came to see if they could help and left." AP

Yet another tempest in a teapot being stirred up by an intellectually bankrupt and increasingly irrelevant right wing in a desperate attempt to regain some relevance.

Ah, but usurpations of power can often start with a just "Seeing if we can help".

Ok..the Army screwed up here..but I don't see it as an issue to be pursued.
After working at Ft. Rucker for many yrs I know how close knit they are with the local communities. My guess is the chief asked for help from Rucker and Rucker responded, maybe in error but not with any intent to break law, but to help the local folks....simple as that IMO.
