Top 5? The ones with the most lenient gun laws.

Bottom 5? The ones with the most restrictive gun laws.

Okay...seriously... though I am kind of serious with the above... In no particular order...

Favorite:

Alaska, Texas, North Carolina, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Las Vegas (yeah, I know, it's not a state, but it's the only reason I go to Nevada).

Least favorite: Florida (except the Conch Republic), Washington, New York (well, really just New York City), Utah (3.2 beer, need I say more?), Hawaii (overrated, IMHO), and California (I've just been here too long).

Don't misunderstand, just because they made my least favorite doesn't mean I don't like them, except for Florida. It just means they are not on my list of places to visit or move.

Funny, my favorite states for beauty are not my favorite for living........

Washington.... beautiful state, mountains, beautiful forests, mt rainier, st helens and baker. Snowqualimy etc,.... awesome place to visit. Seattle is a lovely city.

Oregon..... Wyoming..... Idaho..... Colorado love em all!

Least favorite.... New England states. Rudeness foremost is why I don't like it there. Vermont, NH and Maine sure are beautiful places though. Penn too.

All the state's are nice , even the garbade state (NJ) has some very nice area's but then they have some real bad one's to.

The only thing I don't like is the city"s ATL , NYC, shitcogo, LA , and the list goes on, but all the states those city's are in are very nice in certain area's.

Hey!!!! that is not nice!
Apparently, you have never toured New Jersey and experienced the wonderful historic landmarks such as Washington's Crossing. NJ has reputation as the "Crossroads of the American Revolution" and is well deserved, from Washington's headquarters in Morristown to the hundreds of battles fought on Garden State soil. Historic Flemington which was pivotal location for Gen. Washington as was Trenton, NJ. Let's talk about the beautiful country side in most of the state. The Wolf preserve in Sussex County. Turtle Back Zoo, one of the oldest zoo's in the country. The beautiful landmark Atlantic City Boardwalk was famous long before the casinos. My father saw acts like Abbot & Costello at the infamous Steel Pier! It was also where the first Miss America Pageant ever happened! Not to mention is the inspiration for the most popular game in the world "Monopoly". Princeton, NJ - where Einstein called his home! Does your state have an Ivy League University? the Delaware Water Gap that has 70,000 acres of breathtaking scenery along 40 miles of the Delaware. What about invention here in NJ? Thomas Edison's laboratory, in Menlo Park, NJ. What about the Great Hall at Ellis Island! Located in some of the most beautiful areas of NJ are 11 majestic lighthouses that have guarded mariners sailing the Atlantic Ocean and inter coastal waterways for over a century. Let's not forget the famed American poet, Walt Whitman called Camden, NJ his home.

You know nothing about New Jersey! So don't call NJ a garbage state!!!!!

I wouldn't say he knows nothing about NJ - he only lived there for about 40 years! I lived there for about 30 years, and can tell you while it has it's beautiful areas, it also has some absolutely shit areas - like Camden, Trenton, New Brunswick, Newark...

Well I too have a 50 years in NJ....and have visited in many states and lived in Nevada and Ohio during grad school. There are places of urban blight in every city across the united states and yes....even Hawaii. You all know who lives in those areas. The people that after electing the "Entitlement President" are with hand extended waiting for $$$$ and more government handouts.

I've been to Atlanta many times - there are areas that are just as bad as Camden if not worse. While we are at it New Brunswick is not bad! Johnson & Johnson has maintained their headquarters here for decades! It is also home of two of the best rated hospitals in the country....Robert Wood Johnson and St. Peters.

Robert Wood and St. Peters are great hospitals, but then again, the trauma center in Newark is probably the best in all of NJ (Robert wood and St. Peters are NOT rated tops in the country, there are at least 5 I know of in NY alone that are rated higher) - does that make Newark a great place? Many companies have their HQ's in Newark, and they now even have their own stadium there. Does that make Newark nice?

I defy ANYONE that is not black to go to George Street in NB, grab a few drinks, then walk the side streets. Call me the next day - probably from Robert Wood when you get admitted for a stab wound! Sure, there are a few little areas in NB that are decent, but the rest is absolute garbage. And before you ask, I lived just over the bridge on Rt.1 in Edison for quite some time.

Know the Edison area too. Seems you have limited yourself to specific areas of cities and towns that harbor a bad element. Shame on you! I guess you never made that class trip in 4th grade to the dairy farms in Hunterdon.

That element exists in every city and is not exclusive to NJ. Tell me have you ever been west of Somerville on your own? Make the trip to Round Valley. It is less than a 1/2 hour from Edison. Then tell me it is the GARBAGE STATE!

Besides you cannot even decide what state you want to be associated with...which is it NJ or NY? Fess up

LMAO,I didn,t mean to offend anyone, but to tell you the truth I lived in NJ for 29 yrs before moving south , as for the handle the garbage state it comes from CB lingo, I am a trucker and travel mostly the east cost but make my way west also, I am going to TX in the morning , I have been to the majority of the states ( allot anyway) and NJ 's nick name fits it well.

Lets take these one at a time.

Camden, yes the town they opened the state aquarium up and had the Gaurd there to make sure the tourist could get in and out of town ok

Coastal water ways aaa yes I grew up at seaside park, it was great if ya didn't mind sitting on the parkway for hrs to get there, ooo and yes the drugs one could score there 20 yrs ago were 2nd to none , but the Jersey sure is some of the best fishing off the east coast , cause it is the most polluted ( more for the fish to eat), And the Beaches are great as long as there is no medical waste washing up on them.

Menlo Park, very near and dear to me, I went to high school with allot of kids from there, yes yrs ago they even had a spring you could get water at, there is know a sign telling you to take it at your own risk, and lets not forget Menlo park on one side is a nice park on the other RT 1 LOL

Delaware water gap is very nice agreed , but ride up there opening day of hunting season, lol, a 1000 orange hats is all you see, see here in the south we hunt private lands and we go to say Gatliburg, it is quite nice also, but downtown is congested as NJ, so I stay in a log cabin were there are no neighbors just bears.

As for the Garden state try growing anything off the turnpike from say ex 12 north, lol I woukldn,t eat anything from there.

My sister lives in Edison she spends most her time wondering when her neighbors will committ another attack against the USA, I went to H.S. is Islein NJ witch is now called Islam, LOL .

See I know plenty about NJ , but as I said in my post , there are some very preety places there also.

You refered to ATL , maybe ya didn't see I had added that to the city's I didn't like, but as far as ATL being as bad as say Newark, the Elizabeth seaport, Camden , Parts of Trenton , you are way off, yes ATL has bad area's ,but there worst is no where near the places I just mentioned in NJ.

So again I'M sorry if I pissed ya off but the truth sometimes hurts

Lizabeth,
Welcome to the board! I'm sorry that you were offended. Hang in there with us.

I lived in NJ for awhile, and have been going to LBI for decades. I'd stack the beach there against any in the northeast. Delaware Water Gap is gorgeous. (We just visited Washington Crossing last October and loved it- PA side though).

I think NJ suffers from the fact that the view from the turnpike is the only thing most people ever see. Though obviously Jeff and Jim know the state much, much better than that.

Personally, it is NJ's ultra-liberal politics and its ultra-liberal courts, that I think stink like garbage. Other than that, it has it's good and bad aspects like everywhere else.

Hi Abbey:
I've been here before...took a break to be politically active in NJ. In otherwords I put my money where my mouth is. I ran and won. We have a tough race here in NJ for Gov. and I believe that it is more than time for people to start showing some pride. Stop bad mouthing, stop whinning on websites and DO SOMETHING to try and effect a change - a real change not an Obama "change"

I've not limited myself at all. I simply pointed out the shit towns in NJ, and there are quite a few more that I haven't even mentioned. And these certainly aren't places I've lived, just places I've been to many, many times and am pleased to say I would never return to them.

Been to Hunterdon many times. That's a lovely part of NJ.

I lived in NJ for 30 years like I said, I've probably been to every single city on my own, multiple times. Been swimming, hiking and fishing at Round Valley. Another awesome area, but an area that does nothing to make the places I stated any less "garbage" like, and nothing like Fort Lee, Paterson, Rahway, Atlantic City or the wonderful pollution/garbage filled area by the Meadowlands. People think Atlantic City is so great but in reality the place is nothing but a giant shithole with some nice casinos lining the boardwalk. Reminds me of Asbury Park, another place that was once beautiful that has turned into a slum. I can go on and on and on about the shit neighborhoods in NJ, but I also admit that there are beautiful parts, but I won't deny the existence of the others.

Besides you cannot even decide what state you want to be associated with...which is it NJ or NY? Fess upIs there an issue with me being born and raised in NJ and now living in NY. Does that somehow disqualify me from pointing out the facts of the disgusting neighborhoods that exist in NJ?

I know the view and intimacy of almost the entire state. From Ramsey to Atlantic City, from Cherry Hill to For Lee, from Seaside Heights to Jackson and everything in between. Like so many other states, NJ has some wonderful areas and some shit areas. Lizabeth doesn't seem as if I'm qualified to point out that Jersey has it's faults.

The only thing worse than the horrible politics in NJ is those here in NY!

Abbey try going a bit further south next vaca to the beach, last time I was in Wildwood it was beautiful, the beach was a 1/2 mile wide, I haven't been there in years but that was I think the nicest beach in NJ.

We do have something in common I am glad I don't live there either , lol

But let it be known I never said none of NJ is any good , I just simply called it a nick name, same as Californa is shaky , KY is the Blue grass , PA is the Keystone ....

AS for blinders I grew up there , I guess I had blinders on for all those years lol ,I probablly travel more threw the state than most do, one of our biggest accounts is Kubota ( tractors, riding mower's)they are delivered all over, to tiny little towns you woudn't of heard of unless born there or you just happen to drive threw and most of those are very nice , but the fact still remains NJ has a nick name, lol

When I was a kid we had all kind of events in the area now no one even speaks english ,

Most driver's in the south tell the dispatcher there atlas lost all pages north of VA, I myself enjoy the New England states part of NY is very nice and yes even NJ has nice spots,LOL

Sure am glad I didn't call it what some do, LOL

I haven't been to LBI in quite a few years but I do know it is one of the nicest, and cleanest, beaches in all of NJ. Wildwood is nice, but I agree that it's not as nice as LBI.

Seaside used to be great when I was growing up too but that has went extremely downhill over the years, same as Keansburg & Point Pleasant.

Could be Abbey, My Aunt had a house in LBI but I was very young the last time I was there , Hell its got to be 28 yrs since I have been to Wildwood but what I thought was nice was how wide the beach was, but as I said it has been so long since WW and even longer since LBI I am sure it has all changed.

I do know WW had single family homes also ,we rented one, they were in a dry area, ya couldn't drink no where in that section, I know I was there 1 week and was ticketed 3 times, LOL
