At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled "*Replacing Michelle*" in the National Review "The Week" column. So here it is, word for word:

*'Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The
University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run "programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting."
**
**In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 – nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.
**
**Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 Million earmark for the UC Medical
Center, in fact. Way to network Michelle!
**
**But now that Mrs Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

We can think of only one explanation: Senator Roland Burris's wife wasn't interested.*

Seems simple to me. They'll fill it when they can find a lobbyist who can bring in money about equal to what the salary is they pay them.

Do as I say, not as I do. To a politician, pork is only pork if done by the opposition party.

Apparently, the University of Chicago paid the wife of a US Senator a large amount of money for what appears to be work worth less than what she received. In other words, the University seemed to be buying influence.

So who shall be the object of your wrath?

Is the University to blame for wanting to buy influence or the Senator's wife for accepting an increase in her salary?

By-the-way, the University of Chicago once employed Antonin Scalia as an instructor. Do you think he can be expected to use his influence for the University's benefit?

I would guess that the people who should be pissed about this are the students of The University of Chicago. I would suspect their tuitions went to pay Mrs. Obama's salary while the University enjoyed the milion dollar earmark.

As for me, it just appears to be more beaucratic wasteful spending.

you support buying influence....hence you support bribery which is illegal, send in the SS

and you do realize that your dear leader is a liar then....as he said he is against this type of influence.

and you do realize that your dear leader is a liar then....as he said he is against this type of influence.Liar? Has he peddled influence since making the promise? The promise was to change future actions, not saying he never did them himself in the past.

Thus far, the obameter only shows 2 broken promises.
