red states rule

I've long been an advocate of calling all this extra money what it is....a handout, welfare, even calling it a "gift". To call it a tax rebate is a slap in the face of all of us who give and do not "receive".

Some Republicans are not ready to embrace Obama’s stimulus, claiming the tax cuts need to be bigger and targeted differently.
“We believe tax cuts should be given to the people who pay taxes, because he’s talking about tax rebates for people who don’t really pay taxes. So in effect, they would be getting a check from the government, but it would be more of a welfare check, so whatever they get is a gift or handout from the government,” Rep. Dan Burton (Ind.), one of the founders of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC), said.
Democrats, however, have disputed Burton’s characterizations of Obama’s proposed tax cuts.
Members of the RSC intend to submit stimulus legislation by the end of the week.
