I certainly can understand the reaction of the mom, but I think I would have sat back and said, 'what was the larger lesson'?

I don't have many blacks, only one currently and her mother was white. However, when discussing illegal immigration which can get rather heated, I've tried to be very aware of the Hispanic students, about an eighth of a given class.

I never grew up in schools with this crap. times change. but im glad im not a student today. to be bombarded by this and politics is just to much for any kid today. in my day the teacher is just flat gone. end of story. I believe there's no such thing as a bad student. only a bad teacher. my opinion.
