So a coup:coffee:le of months ago,my brothers cockapoo starts not being able to peepee when he lifts his leg outside. They take him to the vet and find that he has a huge bladder stone. So they they get the surgery on him....all one thousand dollars worth. They buy him Royal Canin dog food which is $36 for 16 pounds thinking this will prevent any more baldder stones......not so!!!
He starts not being able to pee again, back to the vet. Turns out,he has more small stones and this time they are stuck in his.....penis!!
So this time the vet has to blows the stones back up into the bladder with a catheter(sp?) so he can remove them....ouch!!! Then he makes a small incision between the penis and rear end so the dog now has a ...well...you know:coffee: This is so if Buster forms anymore stones he can pass them easily now. The vet said if he were a female none of this would have been a problem. Male dogs aparently have a bone in their privates and the stones got caught on it and couldn't move.
Anyway, this time surgery was $1500,plus the stay in the vet for a couple of days. All together.....about three grand....a month before Christmas!!! We went over last night to visit him and the poor thing has to wear an e collar...you know, one of those lamp shade collars! His privates have been sliced and diced all up. You could tell he didn't feel too great, poor thing. But hopefully his new ,ahem ,opening will help any new stones to pass!
