An Australian maths teacher has appeared in court over claims she seduced a vulnerable female pupil who was suffering from an eating disorder.

The young girl was just 14 when she attracted the sexual attention of her teacher. What started as a friendship with car rides and sneaky text messages blossomed into a sexual relationship that lead to the eventual arrest of the married teacher.

Now Anna Louise Thompson (28) has appeared in court as a result of the affair she started with the girl in Brisbane in 2003. She is charged with seducing a minor and inappropriate conduct, according to the ‘Courier-Mail’ newspaper.

Police representative Todd Fuller told the court: “They kissed and touched, and pleasured each other with their hands and mouths.” The relationship began with seemingly innocent lunch dates but soon became sexually intense. “They started to experiment with sex toys, lollipops, and wore collars.”

The girl’s parents had no idea what was happening and actually trusted the teacher. Thompson was treated like a member of the family and invited to birthdays and Christmas. She used to stay over at the family home and the girl would often spend weekends at her teacher’s house.

But the couple were found out when the parents discovered them having sex one evening. Their reaction was simply to request that their daughter keep her door open when she had visitors. Thompson’s husband also walked in on the pair when he came home from work earlier than expected one day.

The relationship lasted for three years and ended when the schoolgirl fell in love with a boy. She reported her teacher to the police when she was 16, and the case is still continuing.

It's easy to say the parents should have known but it is unlikey they would have guessed the teacher was gay no? Hence while it may look wrong lwttin the girl go away for weekends with her it is not like they were sending her away with a man.

Also, it is stated the girl had an eating disorder, and if she enjoyed being with the teacher (and hence would have told her parents) it would seem benifical to let her go away from the house and have some time to herself to relax, i'm sure the parents would never have thought what was really happening.

It seems scandals such as this is becoming the norm. Maybe they should make their teachers take a psychological exam periodically to see where they are coming from.

Not particularly. I'm sure this sort of thing has been going on for as long as there have been teachers and pupils... and lax parents. Which is a long time indeed.

It's just being reported more, since it's sensational, and titillation is becoming more important than decency to the public.

In a nation with three hundred million people, and increasingly lax morals, it's inevitable that such stupidity will exist somewhere, and a few such travesties will occur. And reporters will dig it out and slobber all over it, for a by-line that no one will criticize them for.

but i do agree. this lady may have had it planned all along, it might of "just happened" but um...yah. what got me was that the teacher was married.
