Remember Howard Dean, leader of the party that invented the phrase "Tax and spend", and which borrowed so much that they increased the National Debt tenfold since 1933? Here he's criticizing Republicans for doubling the Debt. It's the latest in a hilarious series of speeches in which Democrats tell us that the reason we shouldn't vote for Republicans, is because they keep acting like Democrats. They might actually have something there.

Then there's Joe Biden, who has to have the biggest sense of humor since Nero (who couldn't play the violin) fiddling while Rome burned around him. A bare three weeks after his running mate told a plumber in Ohio "It's good to spread the wealth around" on national TV, Biden huffily informed a TV interviewer in Florida that Obama doesn't want to spread the wealth, shortly before blacklisting her entire station and forbidding her to talk to anyone from the Obama campaign, even including his wife.

But none of them can beat the horselaughs Nancy Pelosi gets for her knee-slapping statements. This is the woman who managed to get nothing at all through Congress despite having majorities in both houses, who has castigated Republicans for everything from losing (oops, make that winning) in Iraq, Global warming (oops, make that cooling; oops, make that "climate change", she'll figure it out some day), to a "culture of corruption" in Congress (she means Republicans wishing Happy Birthday to the oldest member of Congress and getting kicked out, and Republicans taking bribes and getting kicked out by their own fellow Republicans, not Democrats taking bribes, putting the money in their refrigerator, getting praised by their fellow Democrats, and being re-elected). After all that, Pelosi gets the Comedy Queen award for announcing that if Democrats get the White House in addition to the two houses of Congress, the government will "become more bi-partisan".

To realize how humorous Pelosi's announcement is, you have to remember that her definition of "bipartisan" means Republicans caving and doing what Democrats want. Democrats who cave even partially, usually under threat of getting their filibuster power for appointments removed, need not apply. Pelosi doesn't consider that funny at all.

Humor is the balm that heals all wounds. It's good to see that the Democrats are finally developing a sense of that humor, as shown by the hilarious things they've been saying recently.

Dean: One-Party Rule Would Rule

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Monday that he’s looking forward to one party controlling all aspects of government, despite GOP charges that it would be a disastrous Nov. 4 outcome.

“Republicans had a chance to rule. They failed miserably. I think it’s time to give the other party a chance,” Dean said on MSNBC.

Republicans recently warned there would be grave consequences for the country if Democrats were in charge of both chambers of Congress and the White House. At a rally in Ohio, for instance, GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) said he would provide a balance to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who plan to increase taxes.

But Dean dismissed the argument, saying: “You cannot trust Republicans with your money. They will borrow and spend, borrow and spend, borrow and spend.”

Pelosi says don't be afraid of Democrat control

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (KGO) -- In the home stretch of the presidential campaign, San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi has become a key piece of the Republican campaign strategy.

Senator Barack Obama (D) of Ill., continues to lead John McCain (R) of AZ, by seven points in Monday's ABC News tracking poll. So the G.O.P. is now warning what could happen if the democrats are in charge of both the White House and Congress. In Mountain View, Pelosi made an appearance at Google.

Pelosi came to Google to talk about the innovation agenda that the Democrats are promoting. It includes education and rebuilding the nation's infrastructure with green technology. However, a lot of the questions were about the presidential race, about the balance of power in Washington, and John McCain's statements from Monday morning.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says after the election she would like to see congress back in session to pass a second stimulus package.

"Grow the economy, create good paying jobs, in the future in a way that is a green recovery, geared toward Main Street and is fiscally sound," said Pelosi (D), Speaker of the House.

And on concerns that Democrats might control both the White House and Congress she said the following.

"Elect us, hold us accountable, and make a judgment and then go from there. But I do tell you that if the Democrats win and have substantial majorities, Congress of the United States will be more bipartisan," said Pelosi.
