Mu husband and I just celebrated our anniversary at an Inn near New Hope, PA. Our room and balcony looked right onto the Delaware River, and we had a great time. Fireplace in the bedroom, etc.

Low point: Obama signs were everywhere. New Hope is a very artsy and gay/lesbian community, so that was no surprise, but even the wooded towns north of it were probably 10:1 for Obama.

Fun point: Besides the obvious (haha), we saw the McCain campaign bus go by on I-95 with a pretty big escort of cars and vans, etc. Mrs. McCain, and I think Gov. Palin (?), were headed to Yardley, PA to speak.

High point: We went to the spot where it is estimated that Gen. Washington crossed the Delaware to attack the Hessians and save the war effort. (Stone monument erected there around 1895). Very, very cool! The thing that kind of surprised me was how narrow the Delaware is there. It's much wider where I live.

Anyway, it was a great time, and for anyone who loves Revolutionary War history as I do, I would highly recommend it. I had been to those parts of Bucks County many times in the past, but somehow always missed "the Crossing". (Btw, in case anyone does want to go, the town around it is called Washington Crossing, PA, lol).

The leaves weren't as colorful as I had hoped this year, but it was still very pretty.

Sounds like a fun time. I used to live in Bucks County for little more than a year. Nice place to visit but very boring.
I actually used to fish in GW Crossing Park.
