His rifle was so awesome. I still remember the one where he had a revolver and stuck it in a board to make it more like a rifle.

Gunsmoke was pretty good too.

I loved all the westerns when I was a kid. Maverick, Rifleman, Gunsmoke, The Virginian, Bonanza, Alias smith & Jones and Wild Wild West.

I think Maverick and Wild Wild West were my favorites.

The show followed the adventures of Paladin, a gentleman/gunfighter (played by Richard Boone on television, and by John Dehner on radio), who preferred to settle problems without violence, yet, when forced to fight, excelled. Paladin lived in the Carlton Hotel in San Francisco, where he dressed in formal wear, ate gourmet food, and attended the opera. In fact, many who met him initially mistook him for a dandy from the East. When working, he dressed in black, used calling cards, wore a holster that carried characteristic chess knight emblems, and carried a derringer under his belt.

What about Mel Gibson? Didn't he play the character as well? OH! and don't forget "Maverick" Tom Cruise from Top Gun. :flameth:(Let the flaming begin) I am joking, really I am!

I would have to say James Garner it my favorite.

An interesting blurb I ran across...

Gunsmoke started a longtime trend for TV westerns. At one point there were 30 of them on the air at the same time. But Gunsmoke outlasted the others and at the time of its cancellation in 1975, it was the only show of its kind still on the air.

Matt Dillon was a good guy.

I think I learned allot of who I am today from westerns. I shoulda been a cowboy.
