View Full Version : More shouts of “kill him” directed at Obama during feisty Palin rally

It’s another Palin crowd that got out of hand today at a huge rally in Scranton, PA. Lots of anti-Obama chants and booing from the crowd, but the most distressing moment came when an especially, er, “pumped-up” McCain-Palin fan went over the edge.

Quote
There were no incendiary outbursts from the crowd about Mr. Obama during Mrs. Palin’s speech, as there have been during other recent McCain-Palin rallies.

However, someone did shout out, “Kill him!” during Republican congressional candidate Chris Hackett’s remarks before Mrs. Palin took the stage.

The outburst came during a round of booing from the crowd after Mr. Hackett said Mr. Obama should come to Pennsylvania and learn what the state’s values are.

Spread hate receive hate! The neo-cons should be proud.

Actually they were shouting "Kill him" to the unrepentant terrorist Ayers. Obama's good friend.

Is there something wrong with wanting justice for terrorists?

You don't know that.

News reports are saying the crowds are indeed yelling threats and hostile epithets about Obama. Of course they are; look how angry everyone is here, on a conservative forum. They don't like to lose, given the socialism, the black issue, etc.

Big, bad changes are coming and people don't like that. Sure they're shouting. McCain was a bad candidate and we have no way to win.

Nope, the charges on the man were dropped because they couldn't verify he was directing them to Obama. Thats the truth, regardless of what "the news reports".

And yelling epithets about Obama isn't illegal. I can call him a socialist pig, a racist, an anti-American, a thug, a half-black cocaine user, and a terrorist sympathizer, and not only is it legal, its the truth.

It's probably just Democrat operatives trying to stir things up. They are out trying to make McCain/Palin look like extremists. You know that whole association thing that they abhor so much.

See? You're doing it too. Lots of people are doing it, it's not just that one man. That's why it's hit the news. There is a lot of real anger out there. I think that's newsworthy, and pretty interesting.

I'm afraid it's going to be an interesting administration.....................

Once you start making up wild "could be's," why stop there?

It's Hollywood actors like George Clooney trying to discredit Republicans!

It's Hillary Clinton now in touch with her anger at Obama and stating her intentions.

[Sigh]

It's much more parsimonius to assume it's exactly what it looks like: angry guys like many of you yelling the n-word from what they hope is the security of the crowd.

Look you feminist hag. I don't use that word nor am I a racist as you seem to be implying. Oh, I'm angry but I'm not a racist.

You can call him those things all you want, but you cross the line when you begin to threaten his life.

As for the man who was yelling from the crowd, I always thought it was a crime to threaten anyone's life regardless of whether or not it was a political figure. So, it doesn't seem to me that it matters who he threatened, although, since this was a minor threat from a crowd, I suppose that they just didn't think it worth their efforts to prosecute.

Yeah, really. That foursome with the T-shirts made the national news, even on TV. Pretty low. I'm no great fan of Palin, BUT.

Why is this such a HUGE issue? ONE guy yells this and the whole world knows? Suddenly McCain/Palin are racists fueling racism?!!! Give me a break. No one is going to tell me that this kind of thing has been yelled at Bush, and the behavior on Libs part toward Sarah Palin is nothing short of disgusting.

This is being made an issue of because it was a Republican rally, and because Obama is black.

I don't in any way condone this kind of stuff being yelled out,but there is a big double standard here.

UPDATE!!!!!!
It never happened!!! Imagine that !!!!

SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.

The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Oabama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him."

News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.

Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

Secret Service looking into Obama threat at rally

By EILEEN SULLIVAN – 14 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Secret Service is looking into a second allegation that a participant at a Republican political rally shouted "kill him," referring to Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

The Scranton Times-Tribune reported that someone in the crowd shouted "kill him" after the mention of Obama's name during a rally Tuesday for GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in Scranton, Pa.

...

In both the Clearwater and the Scranton instances, the Service only learned of the alleged threats through media reports.

"We would ask that anyone overhearing threatening language bring it to the attention of the Secret Service or other law enforcement at the event immediately," Zahren said.

The Secret Service cannot prevent or police poor behavior at public events, Zahren said, but the agency draws the line at threatening language.

...

So far, the Secret Service has not found anyone else who heard "kill him" Tuesday except for the Times-Tribune reporter.

The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him."

“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.

He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.

Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”

“We have yet to find someone to back up the story,” Slavoski said. “We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it.”

Hackett said he did not hear the remark.

Slavoski said Singleton was interviewed Wednesday and stood by his story but couldn’t give a description of the man because he didn’t see him he only heard him.

When contacted Wednesday afternoon, Singleton referred questions to Times-Tribune Metro Editor Jeff Sonderman. Sonderman said, “We stand by the story. The facts reported are true and that’s really all there is.”

Slavoski said the agents take such threats or comments seriously and immediately opened an investigation but after due diligence “as far as we’re concerned it’s closed unless someone comes forward.” He urged anyone with knowledge of the alleged incident to call him at 346-5781. “We’ll run at all leads,” he said.
