Yeah I know....one of our customers owes us 20,000 and their backed by WaMu. My son barely made payroll last week and it doesn't look good this week. Luckily our companies bank is refinancing our equipment collateral loan to lower our monthly payments by 2000. Things ain't good.

One of our clients is Wachovia. They haven't sent us a check since July 30 but continue to pick up collateral at an alarming rate. We.re freaking!

yes....i had sterns and lehman as clients.....line of credit was just cut from 2 mill to 1.5 mill......

but this is not the fault of any government...maybe some govt policies.....but overall this is the result of bad business decissions by several financial institutions....fortunately several banks made good decissions......

we will be fine it will just be long and bloody......

Guys...the tax issue all alone is reason enough that any business owner should have more reason to vote Libertarian than any.

We need flat tax...paid at the register by everyone who buys something. Just think of how much waste would be eliminated just by ridding ourselves of the IRS. It would be shrunk to almost nothing. Of course compliance on the part of business would be important.

the quote of obama sounds stupid - but removing context betrays the intent of the speaker.

I think that would be the Fair Tax, emmett. Not a flat tax.

i perfer the way mccain will allow the economic company to run.....

as much as i don't want to be at war...we are so again mccain gets the nod

i hate the whole concept of pork....

i can't stand social programs.....rewarding failure gets you more of the same....

so for me it is an easy choice......

but obama isn't running against mccain he is running against fear......and people are going to vote against fear....

He also said Health Care was a right. Health care cannot be a right. Health care is a service. No one has a right to someone elses labor. That's what we call slavery.

Me neither. Ok, we're sunk. Both major candidates have zip to offer in the worst scenario, or so it appears, in 70 some years. I'm one of the lucky ones, with very little to lose.

I tried to stay awake for the debate, even with posting here, just couldn't do it. Did hear Frank **** this morning saying the focus group turned Obama after hearing on health care, up to then, they were majority McCain. Interestingly they think McCain did better on the economy question.

Perhaps I misunderstood one of your posts, didn't you say 'Obama was running against fear? People would vote against fear?'

It seems that Obama is trying to play to people's fears: on healthcare, economy, even the war, but mostly about each other. In all cases it seems the argument made is, 'You can't do it, but all together we can!' Whether it's getting the kids off to school; getting to work; getting to the doctor; getting the bills paid. When most people say, "Hell I do that everyday," condescending look and reply, "Some can't, they need a hand up and there is something implied there in your superior answer, is it racism?"

WHAT?

So what's your point? These mortgages, both sub-prime and regular, were bundled and sold on the derivatives market as secure investments based on tangible assets throughout world markets. The mortgages were bundled in such a way though, that it is almost impossible to track back to a given property...a piece of one mortgage here, another there and the rest scattered through a number of different instruments.

Like it or not, Emmett, the markets are global so the effects of its collapse are global.

markets may be global, however, i do not believe our housing situation is. we have a phony real estate market falsely propped up because democratic policies enabled those who could not afford to buy homes, buy homes. i believe the real estate bubble can be linked directly (not the sole cause of the bubble, speculators with means also were foolhardy) to CRA and other democratic policies, such as Obama suing to force banks to loan to minorities who should not be qualified to buy a home. they bought homes that would have sat on the market....the false inventory levels caused by democratic policies caused home prices to rise.....and nearly everybody was able to buy a home as you must get rich or die trying....

i had friends who did this....i was tempted to do it....but for me a bankruptcy or foreclosure has to be disclosed to my "guild" and i did not want that on my record....and btw, those friends have almost no $$ right now....oh wait, we are bailing them out.....and that pisses me off

I'll tell you my point! If our two houses are both on fire and our families are at risk to burn, I'm gonna work on putting my fire out first! It's that simple! I am not concerned about who started the fire, why it is burning or if I could have avoided it. I'm simply going to put it out.

I don't GIVE ONE FLYING SHIT about how this current fiasco affects the rest of the world right now! I have absolutely no regard for the crummy answers Barack Obama or john McCain have offered (Obama really hasen't offered any real answers, John Mccain's offerings are lame) because even after we repair the flat tires we are still going to drive on the same road!

The entire fucking tradegy was caused by one very simple mistake. A foundation mistake that was deeply rooted in our general philosophy as a people controlled by government. We allowed government to control private enterprise......PERIOD!!! You can spin thais any way you want to but I am absolutely right...100%...PERIOD! The only party that would never have allowed this stupid business practice to take place is the LIbertarian Party. PERIOD!!!!

Government has no fucking business in business! NONE!!!! How we have allowed ourselves to accept this over time is absolutely unbelievable!!!! Government fucks up everything they get involved in and they sure as hell planted the seeds for this tree to grow.

I had the privledge of talking to Harry Browne on a radio show in 1996 when he was running for president. He predicted this fiasco almost to the month! He even predicted within 100 billion dollars the amount of the bailout funding that would be necessary to patch it. Unfortunately he also predicted how democrats and republicans would attempt to fix it and was right again. Additionally he said that all out turmoil would result when the fixit fails two years later and it will result in 15% of population being homeless. Financial markets will fail, construction will come to a halt! Low income jobs will cease to be existent and unemployment will go as high as 25% of the population. Three things basically have caused this. Forcing the financial industry to finance homes for those who cannot afford them, revenue redistribution without cause and not electing a Libertarian president who could use the power of the veto pen to guarentee the abolishing of earmarks.

Go back and add the total amount of earmarks / pork from the last twenty years and while you may not have electronic merry go rounds in city parks and three million telescopes in Chicago you would have enough money right now to invest in so called entitlement programs and erase the issue of rather taxes need to be raised or not.

We brought the housing problem on ourselves! We have destroyed the stupid social security fund. There is no money there! Each month we mail out checks on an account that has no money in it! It is borrowed!!! BORROWED!!! We are indulging in the same practice that the folks who could not afford the homes did when they bought them. Imagine all the funds that have rolled throught the national treasury since the start of SS and then imagine them invested in private enterprise by individuals who controlled them theirselves and with the profits, built businesses and bought products with "real" money!

DAMN!@!!! I mean just damn! How stupid can we be? We all know that everything I just said is true! Every word and we will continue to ignore it!

Isn't real change at least worth a try? I mean how bad could it really get? Could having a president with a pen in his hand that did not allow these stupid practices to continue be all that bad?

VOTE LIBERTARIAN!!! For Real Change!

Yep! Media = 4th arm of the government. A sad reality.

Wish we could reign them in.

A fair and balanced news channel seems Right Wing to those who watch/listen-too, CNN,MSNBC,CBS,ABC,NBC,NPR........... as these last mentioned networks are so blatantly pushing for a closet socialist/communist candidate-agenda.

You go so far left from your party's FDR roots, that a moderate agenda seems far right wing.

Actually JFK would be turning over in his grave to see where his party has gone. FDR as well.

The American people en-mass have lost their independent moorings or roots politically. More and more they are pushed or massaged into accepting socialism as the middle ground, or norm.

So folks, what is the right candidate and the right policies?

Maybe it's time we start checking out the alternative candidates. Those of the Constitiution party, Green party and Independent party. I'm at a loss. But I have checked into the candidate running on the Constitution ticket. I think his name is Barr. He sounds good to me. Not sure whom I'll vote for tho' and I expect there will be millions of us on voting day still not knowing whom to pick until we get into the booth. And then it's "let your conscience be your guide."
