Two reasons: One it's Friday and typical to take profits. Two they pushed the market up from the opening in anticipation of the bailout passing. They have taken some profits and will probably push it back up a bit before the close.

Watch out for Monday though after they have time to digest the bill and decide if they really like it.

I am not so concerned about bankruptcy judges adjusting interest rates, as I believe bankruptcy court judges have been able to do that for a long time, but simply saying that Mr. & Mrs. Smith's mortgage is too high for them at $250,000 so the judge can reduce it to $45,000 is preposterous!

Unless of course... I can find a judge... no. that is just plain wrong.

Chapter 13 which is commonly referred to as debt consolidation is essentially a repayment plan on the balance of debt (it is a bankruptcy). Interest stops accumulating when the case is filed (with the exception of student loan interest)...No adjustments by a Judge though..the amount repaid in percentage determined by the U.S. bankruptcy guidelines. It could be 100%, I've seen 4.5%.

Chapter 7..wipes most unsecured debt away but the Law does not always allow one to file a 7 due to assets or income so a 13 is the only option. That's a part of the new law I love and hate.

Franklin Raines (Obama adviser and Fannie CEO 1999-2004): $90 million

Jim Johnson (Obama adviser and Fannie CEO 1991-1998): $21 million in 1998 alone — which, as Byron has detailed, was initially concealed from the public) (I haven't been able to find, in a quick search, how many more millions he made from 1991-1997)

Jamie Gorelick (former Clinton administration Deputy AG & Fannie vice chair 1998-2003): $26 million.

Campaign Contributions

Barack Obama, though only in the Senate since 2004, took in $126,349 from Fannie & Freddie (second only to Sen. Chris Dodd, $165,400 — whose collections go back to 1989).

Taxpayer Liability Increase

Potentially $5 trillion.

I just found out that Steve Chabot did not vote for this bill....I knew we could count on him. I think he is the only true conservative left in Ohio. Great guy,comes to small town parades and talks to people.

A guy on Hannity and Colmes said it best last night(can't remember his name,but he's on a lot... a Democrat). He said this bill was passed because our government leaders think we are too lazy too care,or aren't paying attention,or just plain don't understand this because they think we are too stupid.

It's really a big disappointment. I was think if McCain would have taken a firm stand against this and shown he could be a leader and stand up against Washington,he would have had a better chance of winning this election.

When I heard about the pork,I was even more furious. How could they do this....I mean throwing all this pork in when three fourths of Americans didn't even want the bill by itself,let alone the pork. I will remember this at election time. The American people need to make these guys pay at election time,and continue to let them know via e mail and phone calls that they are NOT happy.

Well prepare for a nightmare if Obama wins and has the Pelsoi.Reid Congress. Get ready for more taxes, more spending, and alot more pork

The only thing that may cushion the blow is if Dems do not get 60 votes in the Senate. Perhaps Republicans will grow a pair and stop some of the insanity from becoming law

Vote out all the incumbents in the house. With few exceptions. And get rid of any incumbent senator running this year. The voters have to show them we are taking notes. Ignore us at your own peril.
