View Full Version : What`s your take on Obama`s $845 BILLION Global Poverty Act?

The bill would require our president "to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day."

The bill would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7% of our gross domestic product on foreign handouts above what we already contribute around the globe.

NOTE:
This figure of 0.7% was codifed in a United Nations General Assembly Resolution and states:

In recognition of the special importance of the role which can be fulfilled only by official development assistance, a major part of financial resource transfers to the developing countries should be provided in the form of official development assistance. Each economically advanced country will progressively increase its official development assistance to the developing countries and will exert its best efforts to reach a minimum net amount of 0.7 per cent of its gross national product at market prices by the middle of the Decade

But the real frightening part of the bill is its "Millennium Development Goal" which is also mentioned in a declaration adopted by the United Nations Millennium Assembly and Summit in 2000 that called for the "eradication of poverty" by "redistribution (of) wealth and land," cancellation of "the debts of developing countries" and "a fair distribution of the earth's resources" i.e. from each [meaning the U.S. Taxpayer] according to their means, to each [meaning the rest of the world] according to their needs.

Keep in mind this is Obama’s plan, and it would enslave the American Taxpayer to third world nations, and it is also supported by his running mate Biden! Do we really want these World Class Marxists in charge of our government?

If we can make 51 percent of America’s population dependent upon a federal government check, we can then buy their vote, keep ourselves in power and keep the remaining portion of America’s working population enslaved to pay the bills ____ our Marxist Democrat Party’s game plan, a plan to establish a federal plantation on American soil and send its wealth abroad.

Wonderful idea, imagine a world where children don't die every few seconds and imagine the potential for progress everywhere. If we can spend billions on killing machines, and billions to prop up failed corporations why not do a truly religious thing, and make the world a better place.

"Man has the right to live. He has the right to bodily integrity and to the means necessary for the proper development of life, particularly food, clothing, shelter, medical care, rest, and, finally, the necessary social services. In consequence, he has the right to be looked after in the event of ill health; disability stemming from his work; widowhood; old age; enforced unemployment; or whenever through no fault of his own he is deprived of the means of livelihood." You like the idea, then you donate to a charity that will take care of this. If we all did that imagine the good that would happen. I give money to my church and they do good work with the needy, don't make me pay taxes for it too. I think this is a horrible idea, not the fact that we should do something but the way they are trying to get it done.
One question, who else is going to give their hard earned money? Europe? Japan? Nobody I would guess. Global my a$$!

Since you like this idea so much lets start the ball rolling right here. You send me a third of your income every month. I'm poor and it would definitely increase my standard of living.

Cash, check, money order, travelers check, anything I can spend.

I'll wait.

It was always obvious to me that Obama would throw America's money and troops at Africa. It can't do any good, however: the whole world has been giving Africa money and food and medicines for decades and it has only gotten worse and worse and worse. They have to improve themselves, or they just sink deeper. Probably they can't.

Look at all the so-called AIDS aid: Bill Gates and the U.S. government sends gazillions over there to stop that disease, but the Africans continue to engage in their rampant promiscuity, so the disease continues to infect large percentages of their population.

It's not about what we do: it's about what they do.

Leave them alone to sink or swim, I say.

It won't happen though, because of all the African oil and minerals. China is already going in there and taking over.

You don't know how right you are about throwing the American Taxpayers money, see:
From the text of Obama's bill (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.2433:)

(9) At the summit of the Group of Eight (G-8) nations in July 2005, leaders from all eight participating countries committed to increase aid to Africa from the current $25,000,000,000 annually to $50,000,000,000 by 2010, and to cancel 100 percent of the debt obligations owed to the World Bank, African Development Bank, and International Monetary Fund by 18 of the world's poorest nations.

(10) At the United Nations World Summit in September 2005, the United States joined more than 180 other governments in reiterating their commitment to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

I wonder if the plan is for Obama‘s brother in Kenya, George, after receiving the $845 BILLION, to then share the money with Barack by transferring some into a Swiss Bank Account for him, the chosen one!

BTW, I wonder if McCain will ask Obama about his Global Poverty Act during the debate.

Black working people who support Obama are absolutely correct when they say, as a general statement, “its all about the Benjamins”. But they seem to be easily conned into surrendering the “Benjamins“ they earn to "agents of change" who merely seek to change the faces of those holding political plum jobs within the inner circle of the Washington Establishment. Do black voters not realize they will be betrayed by Obama's "agents of change“ if Obama is elected and remain tax slaves ___ useful to work and pay taxes to feed political plum job holders on our federal plantation?

My aunt was a Sister of Charity. One of her many roles in life was helping those in need in Buffalo NY and later in various part of NJ. I will always remember her stories of need and the difficulties in getting corporations and the wealthy to donate. The church donations helped locally and for the church itself, but were never enough. Her times were worse in some ways than today but we seem as a nation to be going back there. Sad that the 'new deal' and 'great society' are looked on as enemies of greed. Maybe greed needs to learn if all have, it's just a nicer world.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote to continue the same economic policies that are destroying the middle class in America.

Naaaaaaah, if poor people "have" houses on soft terms not a person on this forum would be allowed to get, they don't bother to pay the mortgages and the whole economy collapses: for link, see any news site today.

All this give, give, give business is totally the wrong way and causes nothing but poverty for all.

The solution is to keep opportunity equal and let the cream float and the lightweights sink; they will anyway, no matter what you try, as communism found, but with socialism EVERYONE becomes poor, not just the poor.

It is also interesting to note what Obama/Biden and the rest of these world class Marxists have in their mind regarding funding …. a global tax imposed upon the United States Taxpayers by the United Nations, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels!

Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the U.N.’s “Millennium Project,” says that the U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.’s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the “Millennium Development Goals,” this amounts to $845 billion. And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels. ________ see: Barack Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote (http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-global-tax-proposal-up-for-senate-vote/)

Question is, will McCain ask Obama about his $845 BILLION Global Poverty Act during the debate this Friday. We really need to know more about the real CHANGE Obama has in mind for America.

McCain should also ask Obama why he attempted to silence a talk show on WGN two times! See: WGN-AM again target of Obama Campaign (http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/09/wgnam_again_target_of_obama_ca.html)

What I don’t understand about Obama's $845 BILLION global giveaway is, we have children living in Harlem who go to bed hungry at night and Obama wants to tax hardworking fathers living in Harlem and then send their paychecs around the world, and especially send this money to his brother in Kenya!

I wonder if the plan is for Obama‘s brother living in Kenya, George, to then share the $845 BILLION with Barack, transferring some into a Swiss Bank Account for the chosen one! For those who do not believe Obama is working to allow the United Nations to impose a 0.7 percent tax upon the gross national product of the United States, here are the facts.

Under Obama’s bill (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.2433:), the president is required to devise a "comprehensive strategy" to meet the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.

The ultimate aim of the Millennium Development project is to have the American Taxpayers submit to the United Nations imposing a tax upon them amounting to 0.7 percent of the GNP of the United States. In one report a UN panel asserts that membership on the UN Security Council “be required to fulfill international commitments to official development assistance, including the 0.7 target” which is to be imposed upon “rich-countries”

Obama’s bill is designed to legislatively require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to “achievement of the Millennium Development Goal ” which includes the 0.7 targeted tax upon the GNP of the United States!

But I guess these pesky little facts mean nothing to those who are very much in favor of enslaving the American People to a United Nations goal of imposing a 0.7 percent tax upon America’s GNP (http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/press/07.htm)

Bottome line is, Obama is working to enslave the American people to a United Nations tax!

What I don’t understand about Obama is, we have children living in Harlem who go to bed hungry at night and Obama wants to allow the UN to tax hardworking fathers living in Harlem, who can barely meet their own economic needs, and then have the U.N. redistribute their paychecks to poor countries, as opposed to the “rich-countries” [meaning the United States] which Obama agrees ought to be taxed by the U.N.

Question is, will McCain ask Obama why he wants to commit the American People to a new tax --- a UN tax of 0.7 percent of America‘s GNP?.

The Candidate of Hope is hoping that while he caterwauls about our lost billions, you won’t notice that he has already proposed the most jaw-dropping transfer of wealth in American history: taking nearly a trillion dollars out of the pockets of American taxpayers and doling it out to the world’s worst regimes through its most corrupt intermediary, the U.N.

The scam is better known as Obama’s Global Poverty Act. Sen. Joe Biden, , his trusty running-mate, recently tried to slam it through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee ____CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE FULL STORY!)

Hopefully Sara will confront Biden and ask him the big question: When we have children living in Harlem, N.Y. and South Philly who go to bed hungry at night, why does he and his running mate propose to have the UN tax hardworking fathers living in Harlem and South Philly, who can barely meet their own economic needs, and then have the U.N. redistribute their paychecks in foreign lands, and to the tune of $845 BILLION?

This is absolutely amazing how Obama/Biden want to enslave Mary and Joe Sixpack to the United Nations.

Sarah, please ask Biden about his United Nations 0.7 % tax on the GNP of the U.S.!

The solution to poverty is wealth. Not the distribution of wealth, but the creation of wealth.

I think it's a bit more complex than that. A country can have great wealth concentrated in a few hands and the greater majority of the population can still be extremely poor. So it's not just creation of wealth but it's distribution that's important. In capitalist countries the wealth is kept in a very few hands and although wealth has been created, as you point out, the fact that it's kept in the hands of plutocrats means that povery still exists.

Therefore I would amend your point to read, the solution to poverty in a nation is the creation of wealth and following the creation of that wealth, the equitable distribution of wealth in that nation.

What a shame that there are so many in our country [especially Obama/Biden supporters] who are unable to make the distinction between voluntary charitable contributions made to those in need by those who care, from the force of government being used to confiscate the product of one individual’s labor for the economic needs of another. There is no magic wand in government force being used which changes the definition of theft.

"To lay with one hand the power of the government on the property of the citizen and with the other to bestow upon favored individuals, to aid private enterprises and build up private fortunes is none the less a robbery because it is done under forms of law and called taxation." ____ Savings and Loan Assc. v. Topeka,(1875).

Obama proposes to engage in a $845 BILLION enslavement of the American Taxpayer via THE OBAMA BIDEN GLOBAL POVERTY ACT (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.2433:) and adopting the United Nation’s Millennium Development goals mentioned in the bill.

Bottom line is, Obama is working to enslave the American people to a United Nations 0.7 percent tax upon America’s GNP (http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/press/07.htm)!

For those who believe the assertion that there is no new tax involved with Obama`s Global Poverty Act and its Millennium Development Goals, I suggest you keep up with global news concerning the "Millennium Development Goals"!

EU ministers agree tax on flying (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4545123.stm)

A voluntary air travel tax to fund aid for the world's poor was agreed in principle at the European finance ministers' meeting on Saturday.

"This will be a voluntary contribution which some member states propose to turn into a mandatory contribution but we are leaving this open," said Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker.

The tax is expected to be compulsory in Belgium, France and Germany, while Malta and Cyprus and Ireland would give passengers a choice as to whether they pay it.

The airline tax was "one of a number of proposals" for ways to meet the EU's anti-poverty pledges under the Millennium Development Goals, an EU spokesman told the BBC News website.

Also see:

13 countries join forces on air ticket tax for poor (http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2006-03-01-airline-tax_x.htm)

U.N. estimates say about $200 billion a year will be needed in official development aid by 2015 to meet the so-called Millennium Development Goals of halving world poverty.

Bottom line is, Obama is working to impose a new tax upon the American people, a 0.7 percent tax upon America’s GNP (http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/press/07.htm) which is then to be handed over to the United Nations which will then redistribute this money as it feels fit, and as was done under the United Nation’s oil for food program.

Have we forgotten when the oil for food scandal broke out, when $ BILLIONS handed over to the U.N. never reached the people it was intended for, and was nothing more than a scam to create a slush fund for international dictators to buy modern day weapons to keep their people enslaved?

What I don’t understand about Obama is, we have children living in Harlem and South Philly who go to bed hungry at night and Obama wants to allow the UN to tax hardworking fathers living in Harlem and Philly, who can barely meet their own family’s economic needs, and then have the U.N. redistribute these people’s paychecks as the UN feels fit.

Why has our big media not reported on Obama's plan to adopt a 0.7percent tax upon America's GNP, which is then to be handed over to the UN who will then distribute America's wealth as it pleases?
