View Full Version : Why Experience Matters

Even some conservatives recognize that Palin is not qualified. I read the other day that only 17 of the 43 presidents had more experience than Obama.
Why Experience Matters By David Brooks
"This is why regular people need to take control....
I would have more sympathy for this view if I hadn’t just lived through the last eight years. For if the Bush administration was anything, it was the anti-establishment attitude put into executive practice.
And the problem with this attitude is that, especially in his first term, it made Bush inept at governance. It turns out that governance, the creation and execution of policy, is hard. It requires acquired skills. Most of all, it requires prudence.
What is prudence? It is the ability to grasp the unique pattern of a specific situation. It is the ability to absorb the vast flow of information and still discern the essential current of events — the things that go together and the things that will never go together. It is the ability to engage in complex deliberations and feel which arguments have the most weight."

Yet, Democrats have nominated a man with zero experience to fill the top position in our government? Go figure!

How in the world could liberals deny the affirmative action candidate?

I guess by experience, they mean being a community organizer, instead of a Governor..
I guess by experience, they mean someone who has to take his teleprompter around with him,to talk to us everyday people..
I guess by experience, that would be someone who picked some old Washington has been insider for your running mate..
yeah, I'm voting for ALL THAT EXPERIENCE..:poke:

What Dems are looking for in this election is NOT experience
They are looking for someone who will take care of them, give them freebies, tell them how much he cares about them, and will coddle them when they make mistakes
Dems do not give a damn who pays for all this attention - as long as it is not them

Do you really believe that of Midcan? How about MFM?
Do you think they are that hard up?
I don't think all Dems are looking for handouts. I must confess, that no matter how misguided they are, many Dems (libs in particular) really must think they are doing what is best for the poor of this country.
I have to admit, I don't get the impression that Midcan is hard-up nor MFM nor John Doe or even Desh when she was allowed to post here for that matter.
So, what prompts those libs to support exorbitant taxes, income redistribution etc?

MFM brags about all the money he has - so it does not apply to him. Dems like MFM care about only one thing - power
MFM has mo mprblem with Dems making promises to their voters- promises he knows damn well they can't keep. But as long as they win elections he does not care how they do it
Most Dems are looking for a freebie either for them or a member of their family. They do want someone else to pay for their medical care, their home heating oil, their kids college education
Libs support high taxes because they actually believe America can tax itself to prosperity
They believe in income redistributiion because they think it is not fair that someone else has more money then they do. They think if anyone is "rich" they had to have screwed someone to have that much money - so they do not deserve to keep the money

Can you explain to me how Republicans are any different in their desire for power?
It seems to me that power is the goal of anyone in politics.

The question was not about thinking for themselves as much as "mooching" off the system. Do you really think Midcan and MFM need to do that?

With MFM it is a means to an end. The more chained to a government program, the better. All that matters to him is power. MFM has no problem keeping people locked into a cycle of dependency. Being a liberal, we wants people dependent on government
Like a drug dealer, he wants people coming to his his party for their needs
Remember, he is fleeing to Mexico to escape the results of more liberalsim if his messiah wins
Midcan is just a liberal moonbat socialist

Class envy and a warped sense of the capitalist system in addition to a lack of understanding of the Constitutional authority of the Government, is my guess.

I always thought that class envy was a means to their end not a reason for their beliefs.

Immie, do you actually believe libs want people to make it off their social programs?
Libs are now running ads on TV telling to sign up for the handouts

Immie, do you actually believe libs want people to make it off their social programs?
No, but that doesn't come anywhere near answering the questions.
The reason they don't want people coming off their social programs goes back to power. As long as they keep people on the programs and keep those people believing that the Democrats are the only ones that will provide for them, those people will keep voting Democrat.
Still doesn't answer the question. Well... now that I think about it... maybe that last phrase does answer the question.
Libs are now running ads on TV telling to sign up for the handouts
They are? I have not seen a one of these. I might ask for a :link: if you have one.

Your no does answer the question. Libs set up their programs that lock people into a cycle of dependency
In PA, I see Gov Fast Eddie on TV telling people to enroll their kids in the state medical plan. He tells folks they may be surprised to learn they may not make to much to qualify

it is about two different ways to run a company.........
one group wants to take from those that are good at something and give it to those that are not .....
the other group wants to let those that can.....do....

That is funny. When we moved to Florida, for several years I had principal's at my kids school's calling me and getting upset because I would not fill out the "free lunch" programs. I told them that I made enough money and would not do so. They told me that I would be surprised to find out that I did qualify.
I realize they got paid from the state for kids that qualified, but I was not about to ask for free lunches when I didn't need them.
