All week at the Dem convention, we were told how rotten the US economy is, and how the US economy is a soup line economy

Yet the GDP came in at a 3.3% growth rate for the 2nd quarter

Will the messiah fess up tonight the US economy is not in a recession?



GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT AND CORPORATE PROFITS: Second Quarter 2008 (Preliminary)

Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and propertylocated in the United States -- increased at an annual rate of 3.3 percent in the second quarter of 2008,(that is, from the first quarter to the second quarter), according to preliminary estimates released by theBureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 0.9 percent.

The GDP estimates released today are based on more complete source data than were available for the advance estimates issued last month. In the advance estimates, the increase in real GDP was 1.9
percent (see "Revisions" on page 3).

The increase in real GDP in the second quarter primarily reflected positive contributions from exports, personal consumption expenditures (PCE), federal government spending, nonresidential structures, and state and local government spending that were partly offset by negative contributions
from private inventory investment, residential fixed investment, and equipment and software. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, decreased.

Speaking of rich liberals - I bet Bill and Hillary loved the Bush tax cuts. Thanks to those tax cuts, Hillary was able to loan her campaign over $5 million they may have paid in additional taxes

Facts are stubborn things, but not as stubborn as ABC in describing our current economy as in "recession." The day before the government revised second quarter economic growth up to 3.3 percent, Good Morning America's food segment on Wednesday morning carried the graphic "Recession Recipes" as co-host Robin Roberts and weatherman Sam Champion chewed on chuck with chef Sara Moulton. (The R word was never used by the noshing news staff, just on screen.)

Scott Whitlock noted ABC's insistent "Recession Rescue" coverage earlier in our non-recession.

The second quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was revised upward Thursday by the Commerce Department from the initially estimated 1.9 percent to a robust 3.3 percent, but neither the CBS Evening News nor NBC Nightly News mentioned the good news, while on ABC's World News anchor Charles Gibson, at Invesco Field, allocated 13 seconds to what he considered “surprisingly strong” economic news:

Other news, a surprisingly strong reading on the economy. The Gross Domestic Product grew at a rate of 3.3 percent in the second quarter, helped by those government stimulus checks and a jump in exports because the dollar is so weak.

NBC News veteran Tom Brokaw, however, was still presuming economic disaster hours after the new GDP number was released in the morning. Just past 2 PM MDT/4PM EDT on MSNBC, Brokaw asserted from Denver:

Beyond this arena, and this city, the American people are facing some of the greatest problems that they have faced, certainly in our lifetimes. Financial crisis, greatest since the Depression; energy crisis; two wars in two different countries; the Russian bear is crashing around in the woods again.

I consider 12 miles too far to go to Wally World too. I wish I had a Costco near me, I actually prefer it to Sam's Club (more Wal-Mart). And I didn't go out of my way, I was just sitting there drinking my coffee before I went to work. You guys are getting settled in for the night when I an getting up for work.

Get netflix. Unlimited movies a month for like 5-15 dollars depending on the plan. Much nicer than the movies.
