With the success of the US military in Iraq, and the defeat of AQ - the US and Iraq are close to a deal where the US leaves Iraq and the government of Iraq takes over total control
Now watch Obama and the Dems try and take credit for this. That would be like for the rooster taking credit for the sun coming up
This is a big win for America, McCain, and Pres Bush. Clear loser for Obama and the Dems
U.S., Iraq Reach 'Time Horizons' for Troop Withdrawal

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday that the U.S. and Iraq have agreed to "time horizons" for U.S. troops to leave Iraq.
A final deal is not quite complete, but Rice and Foreign Affairs Minister Hoshyar Zebari said a withdrawal plan and accompanying strategic framework pact is close to fruition.
"We have agreed that some goals, some aspirational timetables for how that might unfold, are well worth having in such an agreement," Rice told reporters after meeting with Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
"This agreement determines the principle provisions, requirements, to regulate the temporary presence and the time horizon, the mission of the U.S. forces," Zebari said.
A draft agreement announced Wednesday would have American troops leave Iraqi cities as early as June 30. Rice flew into Baghdad on an unannounced trip on Thursday to hammer out unresolved issues.
Zebari said the pact has to go before Iraq's Executive Council for Review, but, "really, we are very, very close to closing this agreement."

Wow...Sounds awfully surrendery of the Bush administration. After all, Chimpy did voice his opposition to any timelines for troop withdrawals. Oh and as for a 'time horizon', one can walk towards the horizon indefinitely and never reach it.

That's why they refer to it as a time horizon.
After your enemies have been eliminated it's not necessary to stay around. Help put things back together, make sure there are no flare ups and move on.
Many of the troops may get pulled out early to go to Georgia.

As usual you are ignoring the facts
The timetable is based on the info provided byu the Commanders on the ground, and the progress of Iraq forces
You, MFM, and Obama wanted to leave Iraq a year ago before the surge was completed
You guys did wnat to surrender, and if you guys had your way the US would have lost in Iraq and the terrorists would have won
No wonder the left no longer wants to talk about Iraq anymore

History will work all this out and reflect that Obama was correct prior to, during and after the senseless war on Iraq.

Only if you are doing the writing. Remember, Obama removed all of his anti surge crap from his website before he went on the "Smear America Tour"
Bottom line is, Dems blew it on this issue, and have been proven wrong once again

actually, history will reflect that Obama would have won the election if he hadn't done such a bad job of campaigning....

I remember this cartoon. The soldier is wrong all the way around. Bush is why his life would be wasted.

The bookshelves are already full of books written by men and women much smarter and knowing about this travesty of a war than anyone on this board. By a vast majority, their books support my position.
What's this "blew it" shit? Have you been taking lessons from your Messiah Rush on what to do with your mouth other than talk?

Most of the books are now in the dollar bin, and in discount stores.
Bottom line is, your party and candidate blew it on the war. 2 years ago the Dems were holding hearings and daily press conferences about the how the US was losing in Iraq. They promised their base they would end the war.
Now, they are silent, and do not want to talk about the war.
On the other thread (which you redeployed away from) I gave many examples of the Dems smearing the troops, and how they did all the could to undermine them and paint them as the bad guys
Despite it all, the troops have won in Iraq and defeated the Dems here and the terrorists over there
