I don't know i9f this is the right place, but here goes:
49 years ago I wrote the following as tongue-in-cheek humour in commemorization of Geo Washinqton's Birthday (226 years in the past). Unfortunately it has become much too ironic, but has been published numerous times, and sent to each president elected to office. Geogre Bush's office is the only one which didn't respond:
"HONEST GEORGE"
Little Georgie took an axe--
and gave a tree some mightly whacks,
and when the tree lay on it's side---
he jumped upon his horse to ride----
Over hill and over dale
because he simply "COULDN'T" fail-
To tell his "POP" about the deed,
and so he spurred his faithful steed
But the Horse got mad and STOPPED instead
(poor George went ----sailing overhead,)
and landing at his father's feet,
(making his chagrin complete)
Said," Father, I can't tell a lie,
But I've made an "END" to YOUR cherry pie"
His Father looked at him and Grinned,
he KNEW the little lad had sinned
but remembering HIS checkered past,
forgave the little boy at last.
Now this was find "THAT" day and age,
the kid grew up to be a "Sage"
But "here and now"?? this century???
It wouldn't work, it's plain to see---
If "YOU'D" be CHIEF before YOU die,
"YOU'VE SIMPLY 'GOT' TO LEARN TO LIE"
