Safety violations, nakedness, violence, sexual assault, dead amphibians and general nastiness: Welcome to the 2008 summer travel season. We warned you that flying this summer was going to be hell, but even we weren't ready for this.
Government agencies don't keep accurate statistics on "air rage" incidents, so it's tough to know whether they're actually on the rise, or if the media is latching onto the Air Travel Sucks hypothesis that has guided airline coverage all year (and we'll admit, it's a practice we're sometimes guilty of).
But there's no denying that the incidents making up this summer's buffet of bad behavior have ranged from hilarious to disturbing to downright bizarre.
On one American Airlines flight, a passenger drained three cocktails and then got belligerent when he was cut off. He hurled ice around the cabin and grabbed a flight attendant in the behind before being restrained by a man the AP referred to as "very large." The saddest part of this story? The man's wife was sitting next to him the entire time...
