View Full Version : L.A. Times bans bloggers from discussing Edwards' sexual tryst

Former Presidential candidate John Edwards met a longtime lady friend at an expensive hotel in Los Angeles for the night, while his wife is recuperating at home from breast cancer. The Los Angeles times has not only refused to print the story, but has even forbade its bloggers from saying anything about it.

The reason they gave, was that the story had been broken by the National Enquirer, and this meant, they said, that it was not well corroborated.
The story has since been confirmed by an independent security guard who was at the scene, and who escorted Edwards away from the hotel as paparrazzi swarmed. But the L.A. Times still refuses to publish the story or let it be discussed. No further reasons have been given.
The Times had splashed the story of Larry Craig's (R-ID) homosexual-solicitation affair at a Minneapolis airport bathroom, all over its pages once law enforcement officers confirmed the story. But Edwards (D-NC), still a possible VP pick for liberal Barack Obama, has been protected from any exposure by the Times.
I'm glad the major media is so unbiased, and treats politicians from different parties so evenhandedly. :cuckoo:

Is it so surprising to see one arm of the MSM liberal propaganda machine do its duty to squash an unflattering story about a Democrat....
For Christ sake, its their job....either don't report the story at all or if that becomes unreasonable, give it the best positive spin possible....
You've been watching it happen for a decade ....

I vote for everyone having an affair so we can quit getting all bent out of shape about them.

I've been following this story for a couple of days now and have been struck by the contrast between the way the press has handled it as compared to they way lambasted Craig. Granted Craig pled guilty and was/is a senator, but Edwards was a candidate for the Presidential nomination with a dying wife. The difference? Edwards is a Democrat. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
Of course it is the National Enquirer breaking the story, but truth be told, they get stories first and they get stories right more often than the MSM.

And who can forget the time when the New York Times and others were running front-page stories last February that strongly insinuated an adulterous affair between John McCain and a lobbyist?

This should be no surprise to anyone familiar with how the liberal-biased MSM works. If it were a prominent Republican instead of a prominent Democrat that the Enquirer story was about, the LA Times would had no hesitation at all about plastering the story on its front page. I read that Fox News had been able to corroborate the Enquirer's story, so I'm assuming other news outlets have been able to as well, including the LA Times, but you will never hear it from them.

Whats truely amazing is that this story hit the news long ago....before this love child was even born...

EDWARDS AFFAIR: ENQUIRER REPORT CONFIRMED!
The NATIONAL ENQUIRER broke the story of Edwards' love child scandal last year, when Rielle was still pregnant and Edwards was still considered a strong candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.
MSM isn't gonna touch it unless they absolutely have too, not when it deals with a liberal Democrat.....
I'll wager that if MSM is forced to deal with Edwards love affair, they will deal with it by re-hashing the year old accusation of McCain having an affair...it'll be a 10% Edwards and 90% McCain story...
