Have a point to make? Drilling for our OWN Oil is a VERY GOOD idea.

Apparently not. Liberals think its better to not drill in our own land where we have the strictist and safest environmental laws. They'd much rather we just import the oil, in effect outsourcing the drilling and refining to other countries with less or no environmental and labor laws. So not only are we paying other countries to do our drilling for us, we're paying them to pollute the planet too.
Thats liberal logic for you.

It's stupid.
It's like treating a heroin dependency with more heroin.
We should be kicking the habit not trying to score.

Nope. That's Conservative mythology being sold as logic.
The best plan for the future is finding better ways to do things.
Drilling isn't one of them. At best, we might lower the price of gasoline 2 cents per gallon in a few years. That's not a solution.

Oil is a gift from God. Your analogy to Herorin is stupid because heroin kills people. Oil, and it's by products, have liberated continents.

Funny, liberals are screaming how all of this is caused by the futures market. Lifting the ban and starting to drill now would make the price drop dramatically, because obviously the supply is going to increase in the future.

The better choice would be making the speculators understand we won't need any oil in the future by focusing our efforts on alternate energy sources, conservation and and efficiency.

Conservative energy policies are quite simple. Use any method to produce our energy and increase our supply of energy.
That involves drilling. It also involves nuclear power. Liquid coal refinement. Oil Shale. Developing Wind and Solar technology. Ethanol when we arent destroying our food supply to do it. Etc. But most of all it requires that we produce the oil rather than rely on others.
If the only effective is oil, then we use it until we develop others. But if it were left to the left, we wouldnt have any energy.

Opiates are a gift from God. Without them millions of patients would live in misery, wracked with pain.

It's foolish to think we can "kick the habit" of oil cold turkey. I agree that we should look for every source of energy we can. Frankly, I think we should start building enough nuclear power plants to provide up to 90% of the nation's electricity (the rest could come from solar, wind, water, etc., if we wanted all our electricity to be "green".). But one still has to figure out how to power transportation, and until electric cars that are as good as gasolie cars are mass produced at an affordable price, we need to continue to look for oil in every place we can, including ANWR and off the coasts of America.
this "kicking the habit" bit is hollow and smacks solely of politics. the dems cry for alternate energy and scream we should stop using oil. what is the alternate energy? if we stopped using oil right now, not only would the US economy collapse, but the world's economy as well. by not allowing drilling you are giving power right now to those who are drilling.
do you think it is wise to right now give so much power to those nations that control oil?

And I would also like to emphasize, not only would their be financial ruin, but millions of people would die of starvation, the heat or cold (depending on the season), and face house foreclosures for their inability to pay. Why on earth should we advocate a policy that will literally leave people homeless and dead?

....Why on earth should we advocate a policy that will literally leave people homeless and dead? Because with less people on Mother Earth the blight on the planet will be over. Welcome to the real Green Agenda.

What makes you think that industry isn't working on alternative energy? I hear this same thing from all of the Democrat mouthpieces and nobody knows what they mean, including the ones repeating it over and over again.
Wind power has been around for centuries(used to drive water pumps in the cowboy days, still used for this) and wind generators have been around for decades(go drive through Banning, California or watch "Rainman"). Solar farms are already in use all over the world. Nuclear energy is being used heavily around the world. All of the automobile manufacturers have hybrid cars and most are working on electric and hydrogen powered vehicles.
So what type of alternative energy are you talking about? Are you advocating the U.S. government should be focusing it's efforts on alternative energy sources? What does that mean anyway, exactly......... explain it for us.
The fact of the matter is that no matter what alternative that industry comes up with, some special interest group will have a problem with it. No nukes ever, wind power is killing thousands of birds of prey, batteries take a ridiculous amount of energy to create and recharge, solar doesn't produce enough to work, hydrogen fuel cells take a ridiculous amount of energy to produce and are extraordinarily expensive to run with and it uses water, water that we are running out of.

Your lack of understanding of the real world is amazing, it does explain your political ignorance though.
Question: What makes you think that if someone comes up with an alternative source of energy later today that it wouldn't end up being traded on the stock market. Do you think it will be free to all that want it? If it is on the stock market, speculators will speculate on what it will be worth tomorrow and the price will be set accordingly........ you don't get that?:confused::cuckoo:........:alcoholi c:

Here are the top 10 reasons to blame Dems for our current energy problems
Top 10 reasons to blame Democrats for soaring gasoline prices
By William Tate
This started out as an attempt to create a light and humorous, Letterman-esque Top 10 list. But the items on the list, and the drain Americans are seeing in their pocketbooks because of Democrats’ actions (sometimes inaction) are just too tragic for that.
10) ANWR If Bill Clinton had signed into law the Republican Congress’s 1995 bill to allow drilling of ANWR instead of vetoing it, ANWR could be producing a million barrels of (non-Opec) oil a day–5% of the nation’s consumption. Although speaking in another context, even Democrat Senator Charles Schumer, no proponent of ANWR drilling, admits that “one million barrels per day,” would cause the price of gasoline to fall “50 cents a gallon almost immediately,” according to a recent George Will column.
9) Coastal Drilling (i.e., not in my backyard) Democrats have consistently fought efforts to drill off the U.S. coast, as evidenced by Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s preotestation against a failed 2005 bill: “Not only does this legislation dismantle the bi-partisan ban on offshore drilling, but it provides a financial incentive for states to do so.”
A financial incentive? With the Chinese now slant drilling for oil just 50 miles off the Florida coast, wouldn’t that have been a good thing?
Insistence on alternative fuels One of the first acts of the new Democrat-controlled congress in 2007 was an energy bill that “calls for a huge increase in the use of ethanol as a motor fuel and requires new appliance efficiency standards.” By focusing on alternative fuels such as ethanol, and not more drilling, Democrats have added to the cost of food, worsening starvation problems around the word and increasing inflationary pressures in the U.S., including prices at the pump.
