I'm sure it's rigged to some degree. Otherwise we could have a William Hung as the Idol, with the teen and air-head voters being able to decide. :laugh2:

American Idol belongs in entertainment. It is not news or current events.
Of course AI is scripted. It has to be entertaining, or you wouldn't watch it. So they let on a certain number of allegedly talented people and a certain number of goofs, to allow Simon to be snarky.
None of the reality shows are live. You can't do live TV anymore.
