Global Warming Led to ‘Black Hawk Down,’ Congressman Says
Friday, July 11, 2008
By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer
On the Spot (CNSNews.com) – A top Democrat told high school students gathered at the U.S. Capitol Thursday that climate change caused Hurricane Katrina and the conflict in Darfur, which led to the “black hawk down” battle between U.S. troops and Somali rebels.
Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House (Select) Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, also equated the drive for global warming legislation with the drive for women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
But one global warming expert from the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) told Cybercast News Service that such a remark reveals Markey’s ignorance on the subject of global warming.
“In Somalia back in 1993, climate change, according to 11 three- and four-star generals, resulted in a drought which led to famine,” said Markey.
“That famine translated to international aid we sent in to Somalia, which then led to the U.S. having to send in forces to separate all the groups that were fighting over the aid, which led to Black Hawk Down. There was this scene where we have all of our American troops under fire because they have been put into the middle of this terrible situation,” he added.

Jeff, to liberal moonbats like Markey facts are a menace, and truth is an enemy. They have to scare this kids into accepting their BS, which will be reinforced by the teachers, so by the time they get to college, their liberal professors will finish the indoctornation

Droughts and famines have been happening since the begining of mankind. Its rediculous to claim the "climate change" is a problem, much less a man-made one.
The climate of this world has never stayed the same, its always naturally changing. Didn't the world go through a "climate change" since the height of the last ice age?
Problems like famine resulting from a drought have more to do with human overpopulation and politics than "climate change". We no longer live in a world where people directly live off the land they occupy. So as they spread out to what would otherwise be inhospitable places to live, and when they get cut off from their normal food supply due to economic and political reasons then we end up with Somalia and "black hawk down" scenarios. Most of the suffering in this world is due to some tyrant and his thugs oppressing people to the point where they have no economic power or freedom. 100,000 people didn't die in Burma because of "climate change", they died because of the thug government that failed to warn its people, and refused to allow aid into the country, and the people themselves had no way to provide for themselves, just as overbearing governments like.

ABC: Make Sure Your Funeral Is “Green”
By Kelly Brown (Bio | Archive)
July 14, 2008 - 15:07 ET
If you've recently lost a loved one, it's likely that being "green" is low on your list of priorities. It shouldn't be, according to ABC's "Good Morning America" and author Gay Browne.
Browne, the author of the new "Greenopia" city guides, appeared on ABC's morning show July 14 to promote the guide to going green. The book tells you how to shop, eat and live an all-around "toxic-free life."
"'Greenopia' should empower people to go out and make [eco-friendly] choices," Browne said. "We have over 52 categories, whether it's pet stores, nail salons, even burial services. There's an eco-friendly alternative."
Browne suggested viewers eat at restaurants that recycle and use local food. Why? "Most people don't know that most fresh dinners travel 1,700 miles to get to your plate. That's a lot of gas," she said.
The "Greenopia" Web site offers other suggestions on how to live a "greener" life: Buy furniture that isn't "toxic." Stop eating shark, Atlantic cod, and monkfish. And finally, stop using your dryer and hang your laundry out to dry.
Hanging your laundry out to dry may save some money, but "Greenopia" doesn't mention the negative side effects: stiffer and maybe smelly clothes. The segment also didn't address the added expenses often involved in "going green," like paying more for "clean" energy or organic food.

Don't forget using only one sheet of toilet paper. These are the same idiots that told everyone to use plastic in the eighties. Plastic stays in the enviornment for like 3 thousand years, styrofoam can be broke down and recycled in potting soil and all kinds of uses.
The Libby's are themselves putting out greenhouse gases everytime they open their mouths when it comes to global warming. It's their hot air.
Simply plant some trees. Hug a dolphin when you get the chance and remember to read by candlelight.

Global warming causing California glacier to grow, scientists say
The glaciers on Mount Shasta in California are growing because of global warming, experts say.
"When people look at glaciers around the world, the majority of them are shrinking," said Slawek Tulaczyk, a University of California, Santa Cruz, professor who studied the glaciers.
But the seven glaciers on Shasta, part of the Cascade mountains in northern California, "seem to be benefiting from the warming ocean," he said.
As the ocean warms, more moisture evaporates. As moisture moves inland, it falls as snow — enough on Shasta to more than offset a 1 C temperature rise in the past century.
The three smallest of the Shasta glaciers are more than twice the length they were in 1950.
Other glaciers in Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and Pakistan were in the same position as Shasta, but are now shrinking because rising temperatures have more than offset the increased snowfall.
