Report: Judiciary may hold hearings on impeachment
After insisting for nearly two years that impeachment was strictly "off the table," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may be changing her tune.
The Democratic leader said Thursday that the House Judiciary Committee could be holding hearings on impeachment articles introduced by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) sometime in the near future. After introducing 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush last month, Kucinich is planning to introduce another single article Thursday, accusing the president of misleading the country into war with Iraq.
Politico reports Kucinich's efforts may be paying off:
Pelosi has said previously that impeachment "was off the table," so her comments this morning were surprising, and clearly signaled a new willingness to entertain the idea of ousting Bush, although no one in the Democratic leadership believes that is likely since the president has only six months left in this term.
"This is a Judiciary Committee matter, and I believe we will see some attention being paid to it by the Judiciary Committee," Pelosi told reporters. "Not necessarily taking up the articles of impeachment because that would have to be approved on the floor, but to have some hearings on the subject."
Pelosi added: "My expectation is that there will be some review of that in the committee."

I think Congress' low approval rating is getting to Pelosi. She's probably realized she could lose her position as Speaker if she doesn't allow impeachment to proceed. America hates Bush and Cheney and they're tired of seeing her protect them.

She's not heading it but, as Speaker, she can allow it or block it. Up to now, she's opposed impeachment. Now she seems to be changing her mind. I think that's because she sees the widespread, seething hatred of Bush and Cheney for their shredding of the Constitution and war crimes and she doesn't want to appear to be opposing justice by protecting them from impeachment.

Just how many times must we post the articles of impeachment of gwb before you accept the truths as espoused in them, jeff?
And what exactly would Bush be impeached for?
The entire document is too large to post but you can find it all in the Dennis Kucinich web site. If need be I will post the link but surely you can find it as it has been posted numerous times and you continually ignore it. Your ignorance is really not my problem but I will help if you insist.

I hope beyond all hope that you never get into a position where you can prosecute anyone for a crime. The opinion of the prosecutor is NOT the basis of any prosecution. The law is. Anyone who forgets that is corrupt and shouldnt be anywhere near positions of power. They should be the ones sitting at the defense table.

Nonsense.
Based on an examination of the evidence, the prosecutor may believe a law has been violated and may place the issue before a jury. The jury may or may not agree with the prosecutor's opinion.

Good list. I'd prefer a war crimes trial because it would scoop up more terrible administration miscreants, like Rumsfeld, but this isn't a serious effort, as I'm sure you all realize.
(Oh, come on -------------------- Dennis????)
It's just July of an election year, and as of August and September, it would be nice to have a juicy congressional recitation of all ol' Bush's manifold faults and misdeeds.
Business as usual.

I actually agree. It would be useful to reveal before the entire country, top Democrats wallowing in their hatred for Republicans and screeching out their usual empty rhetoric, with the complete lack of relevant factual basis that has always characterized their tired, debunked lies, this time in the full glare of public spotlights. The American public would finally get a chance to see where all the solemn pronouncements actually originate, and how venal, hate-filled, and small the people are who keep reciting them. It would hasten the Democrats' exit from the U.S. political landscape, into the dustbin of history to join other failed socialists of their ilk.
Business as usual.
Yes. But in public, this time. The sooner the better.

That's absurd.
Prosecutors evaluate evidence and develop an opinion of its probative value. Based on their opinion, they prosecute or not.

They'll have some nice little hearings about how awful everything has been, to tar Bush and feather McCain, right before the election.
