Actually, the Democrats have only a razor thin majority, insufficient to break a filibuster or override a veto. The fact you are ignoring here is that it has been the Senate Republicans which have been the obstructionists...77 REPUBLICAN filibusters in the current term alone, breaking the record of 58 set in the whole of the 1999-2002 term.
But don't let little things like facts stand in the way of your blathering and apologia for the GOP.

But of course one can ignore the fact that the Dems control the writing of the bills. When they rewrite later and then pass it, (such as war funding), there's no 'politics' involved, right?
I don't expect that the majority of voters would recognize it as such, but I assume everyone here realizes what is going on and would stop acting like any of this has jack to do with anything other than November or any election cycle.

What a shocker! The liberal media is ignoring this story
MSM Yawn at Stunning 9 Percent Approval Rating for Congress
By Ken Shepherd (Bio | Archive)
July 9, 2008 - 13:07 ET
If Speaker Newt Gingrich's Republican majority had faced a 9 percent approval rating at any point in the 1996 presidential election year, the media would have not let anyone forget it.
So given that and the media's frequently reminding Americans of President Bush's low approval numbers, why are the broadcast media ignoring the latest Rasmussen poll on the approval rating for Congress under the leadership of Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.)?
Rasmussen's survey hit the wires yesterday, but none of the broadcast evening news programs covered the story, not even as a brief anchor mention. The July 9 "Today," ABC's "Good Morning America," and CBS's "Early Show," similarly paid no heed to the development.
The polling firm's official news release noted that the numbers are really bad even among Democrats -- who are only in the low-double digits in strongly approving of Congress -- and the harshest criticism comes from independents

Yeah, facts are funny things, like it was Bill Frist (anyone remember him?), who proposed the "nuclear option" to prevent Senate Democrats from using the filibuster to block Bush's right wing-nut judicial appointments.
This would have been accomplished by changing Senate Rule XXII which, since 1975, requires a 3/5 majority to end the filibuster and bring a measure to a vote. The change Frist had in mind was a simple majority vote. A 2/3 majority had been required since 1917. Prior to that there was no way of ending a filibuster.
Filibusters should be the exception, not the rule. But in the highly polarized, partisan atmosphere we have today, it's become a bludgeon rather than a scalpel.
Funny, I wasn't complaining about the filibuster...I was simply highlighting some glaring omissions from your thread opener. :D

I grant you that his time in office before 9/11 was scant, however during those 8 months, he not only showed no interest in nation building, he demonstrated no interests in foreign affairs or threats at all. They have so few
Seems you are one of the Dems where you rant when Republcians fail to keep their promises, but when Dems do it - you yawn. As long as Dems run things you are happy. Even of they lie to you, and do not accomplish a damn thing

Oh and im skeptical about the number. Cause I know they havent been working on that many bills.
That's because they'd all actually have to WORK to get anything done... and we all know how well they all do that.

One promise the Dems broke was they would work 5 days a week. Pelosi and Reid soon learned they could accomplish nothing in 4 days and have 3 day weekends
