View Full Version : "Barbie brat bullies" causing concern

It seems as though bullying, cliques and exclusion begin far younger than many felt it did. The elementary school age child who shows no behavior problems at home or around adults may become someone entirely different when surrounded by his/her peers.
This is pretty alarming and frightening to me.

This is nothing new, Gab. I clearly remember a boy in my first grade class being picked on and made fun of by a group of his classmates (including me- I made up a mean little poem about him). He used to suck his thumb at times, and I think he talked a little funny. That made many if us dislike him I guess.

That was far from my normal behavior; I was actually quite shy. But I think group pressure can cause even nice kids to do bad things.

To this day, if I think of it, I feel badly about it. :(

I'm with Gabby on this one...bullying is far worse than when I was a kid....
or even when my kids were kids....
and it seems to get worse.....
either teachers don't give a shit or they are powerless.....
I don't know.....but it SUKS and can only cause more problems in the future...
