Urgent: House Democrats call for nationalization of refineries
Per Pergram-Capitol Hill
House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.
Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.
They also reasserted that the reason the Appropriations Committee markup (where the vote on the amendment to lift the ban) was cancelled so they could focus on preparing the supplemental Iraq spending bill for tomorrow.
At an off-camera briefing, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the same. And a senior Republican House Appropriations Committee aide adds that "there were multiple reasons for the postponement" including discussion on the supplemental. But the aide said there was the thought that Democrats may wish to avoid a debate today on energy amendments.
Here are the highlights from briefing
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling
1115
We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.
Hinchey on why they postponed the Appropriations markup

Yeah, it's evident just here on this board.
I'm guessing the second civil war will be starting in about ten years. Could be sooner. It won't be on the scale of the last one, but it's coming.

I went to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oregon last summer and fall. I went to gun shops, gun shows and pawn shops in each of those states. I have a habit of chit chatting endlessly at those kind of places. Including California there was mention of civil war or revolution in each of those states. No one mentioned starting it, they were all just expecting and waiting for it.

So the Democrat's plan is to nationalize the refineries and sue the foreign suppliers. It's going to be a great presidential campaign. :coffee:

The American Heritage Dictionary defines terrorism as:
"The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons."
Your advocacy of a terrorist act against Congress meets the definition almost exactly. Congratulations, terrorist. Now go get yourself a degree:

Incorrect. The Patriots fought against regular troops (and mercenaries), not against civilians in the Colonies. In fact, it was overwhelmingly the British who destroyed the properties of Patriots, not the other way around.

.. Upset with the lack of redress concerning the new tax on tea established by the British government for importation of tea to Boston, a small band of the Boston Committee of Correspondence members (approximately fifty in number) led by Samuel Adams, proceeded to empty three ships worth and 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor in protest.
During a series of protests linked to the Sons of Liberty, colonists burn and sack the house of the Massachusetts lieutenant governor, Thomas Hutchinson
.
ten boxes of parchment and stamped paper were delivered to City Hall and immediately confiscated, unpacked, and burned by secret leaders of the New York Sons group.
Violence broke out with the arrival of a shipment of stamped paper to the Royal Governor's residence.
a raucous mob captured the governor's gilded and spectacular coach and reduced it to a pile of ashes. From here the mob (consisting largely of extremist elements of the New York Sons of Liberty) raced uptown to the home of Fort George's commander, smashing numerous windows and breaking into the wine cellar to sustain their "patriotism" before descending on the rest of the house in a convulsion of vandalism.
Tarring and feathering Loyalists those individuals who sympathized and were supportive of the British Crown, royal tax collectors, and other officials was a common practice carried out by the more radical elements of the organizations. http://www.earlyamerica.com/review/fall96/sons.html :cheers2:

COMMUNIST PARTY USA - ...........While the party has not directly run any candidates since the late 1980s, the CPUSA sometimes backs some candidates in various local elections (often in Northeastern industrial communities) and engages in grassroots political and labor union organizing. In the 1998 elections,
longtime CPUSA leader Hall actually urged party members to vote for all of the Democratic candidates for Congress -- arguing that voting for any progressive third party candidates would undermine the efforts to oust the "reactionary" Republicans from control of Congress.
As for issues, the CPUSA
