Anyone participate either as a rider or just visiting DC for Memorial Day weekend? I went in 2003 and had a fantastic time just talking to the different people who came from across the country (and even beyond that) to participate.
I will never forget the grandmother who brought her kids and grandkids to "meet" their grandfather at the Wall... he was KIA in 69 when she was five months pregnant with twins. A man saw the name she pointed to, was talking to some buddies later that day and lo and behold, somebody was there who had served with him. One of the Metro cops spread the word about the grandmother's particulars and after an hour or so, another police officer found her and arranged for her to meet her husband's platoon buddy.
The sense of community and pride is a big reason I intend to take my wife to be there next year so if anyone goes as tradition or intends to go next year, please PM me and perhaps we can meet for some eats or a brew or two in DC next Memorial Day.
