He called anyone who opposed him a "communist" in much the same way the Bush administration , and its right wing-nut apologists, call anyone opposed to the war in Iraq, or any other administration policy, "appeasers", "cheese-eating surrender-monkeys", "traitors" and similar epithets. Good post. I too am a McCarthy fan. He had his faults!! (Acute alcoholism.) But he probably did keep America from turning as far left as Europe did, and that sure did them nothing but harm.
