I always thought that was a republican response to ideas that they didn't agree with. Keith proved me wrong on that. Are the Dems catching on?
Did you catch the Olbermann Special Comment tonight? It captured the insensitivity of the shrub to a tee, pardon the pun, about Americans dying for the unjust and ill advised war on Iraq.

Keith, as is his habit and inclination, calls it like it is. Maybe Bush should just shut up like he says. Is giving up "golf" for a time his atonement for all the lies and otherwise misunderstanding that has cost over 4,000 American lives in Iraq?
For whatever reason I don't appreciate his sacrifice.

i say keith should shut up....i just call them as i see them and giving up a failed sports casting career and having people dress him groom him and put him in square glasses....does nothing for anyone.....

tell me of his education and background in global and domestic issues and his experience in those fields.....
Originally from New York City, Olbermann grew up in Westchester County, attending school at Hastings-on-Hudson. Keith Olbermann is of German ancestry. As a teenager, he often wrote about baseball card collecting, appearing in many sports card collecting periodicals of the mid-1970s. He is credited in Sports Collectors Bible, a 1975 book by Bert Randolph Sugar, which is considered one of the important early books for trading card collectors.
Olbermann graduated from the Hackley School in Tarrytown two years after future ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman. He began his broadcasting career while still in high school as a play-by-play announcer for WHTR. Olbermann started college at the age of 16 and in 1979 he earned his bachelor of science degree in communications arts from Cornell University, where he served as sports director for WVBR, a student-run commercial radio station in Ithaca.
Olbermann began his professional career at UPI and RKO Radio before joining then nascent CNN in 1981. In 1984, he briefly worked as a sports anchor at WCVB-TV in Boston, before heading to Los Angeles to work at KTLA and KCBS. His work there earned him 11 Golden Mike Awards, and he was named Best Sportscaster by the California Associated Press three times.

the Lions club here does all the things you mentioned and some..we give out scholarships to the school, A few yrs ago, we diverted a river into another channel to look for a two yr. old little girl who had fallen in and drowned..we raised money for a little boy and his parents to go to Seattle for his brain tumor treatments..(unfortunately the little guy didn't make it)..we have Ester eggs hunts for the kids, we have a Santa Claus and gifts for the kids...etc, etc, etc...
Up here they have always served alcohol special meetings, dances and during the winters when the original bar closes down, the Lions Club takes over to make money..

Olbermann Smears Iraq Vet, McCain as Racists
By Ken Shepherd | April 9, 2008 - 16:29 ET
On his April 8 "Countdown," host Keith Olbermann smeared Iraq war veteran David Bellavia as a racist:
OLBERMANN, from the April 8 "Countdown" opening credits: Nothing obscure about this: Racism as a Republican campaign plank. Sen. McCain introduced at a rally on Capitol Hill."
BELLAVIA, introducing then hugging McCain: You can have your Tiger Woods. We've got Sen. McCain.
OLBERMANN: Did he actually just say that? And why did McCain then embrace him?
Bellavia is running as a Republican for Congress in upstate New York and is pitted against another Iraq veteran, Democratic nominee Jon Powers, in that contest. Olbermann turned to liberal professor Michael Eric Dyson to sanction Olbermann's specious charge that the McCain campaign is racist:
OLBERMANN: When you hear something said like that, is intent impossible to calculate? And does it even matter? Is the idea behind the remarks the same regardless of the intent?

Olbermann Accuses Bush of 'Murderous Deceit,' Should 'Shut the Hell Up'
By Brad Wilmouth | May 15, 2008 - 07:58 ET
On Wednesday's Countdown, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann's latest "Special Comment" attack on President Bush accused the President of "panoramic and murderous deceit," and of "creating" an America that "includes 'cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives,'" contending that "they are those in, or formerly in, your employ, who may yet be charged some day with war crimes." He further accused Bush, whom he referred to as having an "addled brain," of "laying waste to Iraq to achieve your political objectives" in an "insurance-scam, profiteering, morally bankrupting war." Outraged by Bush's declaration that he had given up playing golf out of respect for those killed in Iraq, Olbermann called on the President to "Shut the hell up!" Video of Olbermann's rant can be seen here. (Transcript follows)
The Countdown host was responding to comments the President made during an interview with Politco.com. When asked what was the "worst that could happen" if U.S. troops were withdrawn from Iraq, Bush argued that extremists could feel "emboldened" to engage in "another attack on the United States," and referred to the "ideological struggle" in Iraq "against cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives."
The MSNBC host thought it was insightful to take President Bush's words about terrorists and apply them to the Bush administration. Olbermann: "Mr. Bush, at long last, has it not dawned on you that the America you have now created, includes 'cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives?' They are those in, or formerly in, your employ, who may yet be charged some day with war crimes."
Olbermann continued: "Through your haze of self-congratulation and self-pity, do you still have no earthly clue that this nation has laid waste to Iraq to achieve your political objectives? 'This ideological struggle' you speak of, Mr. Bush, is taking place within this country."
He soon accused the President of forming in Iraq "an American viceroyalty, enforced by merciless mercenaries who shoot unarmed Iraqis and then evade prosecution in any country by hiding behind your skirts, sir," and charged: "Terrorism inside Iraq is your creation, Mr. Bush!"
