Voting has real consequences as the election of two men who never served this country nor understood the arrogance of power proved so tragically.

'What the Iraq War is About'

By Paul Craig Roberts (was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration)

"On April 17, 2008, AP News reported that a new study released by the RAND Corporation concludes that “some 300,000 U.S. troops are suffering from major depression or post traumatic stress from serving in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and 320,000 received brain injuries.”

On April 21, 2008, OpEdNews reported that an internal email from Gen. Michael J. Kussman, undersecretary for health at the Veterans Administration, to Ira Katz, head of mental health at the VA, confirms a McClatchy Newspaper report that 126 veterans per week commit suicide. To the extent that the suicides are attributable to the war, more than 500 deaths should be added to the reported combat fatalities each month.

Turning to Iraqi deaths, expert studies support as many as 1.2 million dead Iraqis, almost entirely civilians. Another 2 million Iraqis have fled their country, and there are 2 million displaced Iraqis within Iraq.

Afghan casualties are unknown.

Both Afghanistan and Iraq have suffered unconscionable civilian deaths and damage to housing, infrastructure and environment. Iraq is afflicted with depleted uranium and open sewers."

we wouldn't be in a war in Iraq trying to get folks who hate each other to group hug if Gore had been elected, that's for damn sure.

I disagree. I see no reason why Al Gore would have been sucked into the PNAC wonderland.

We'd be too busy cleaning up after a few more 9-11's, no doubt. :pee:

Ok, I'm going to have to call bullcrap on that one. Pretty much every chance we had to stop those lunatics came under Clinton's watch, and I don't think ANY president could have done anything about it in those mere 9 months without a incredible streak of dumb luck, unless we had Jesus for president, which would be all kinds of awesome.

You guys have short memories, the first attempt at the WTC happened right after Clinton got in office, notice he was the better man, not blaming Reagan/Bush for their ineptness. From then we had none until Silly got in office and looked like he was lost most of the time. 911 did define him, sad he was so inept and went after the wrong country. Anyone wonder if OBL is still laughing at that incredibly stupid act.

Clinton didn't even take the first bombing seriously. He flew overhead and went along with his day. Several Al Qaida terror attacks on our foreign interests later, and he still turned down 3 offers for bin Laden and Sandy Burglar wouldn't give our specops team the go-code to take him down when we had him in our crosshairs...because he didn't want to get blamed if something went wrong. Getting hit once is a surprise, especially since bin Laden was actually an ally during the cold war, but getting hit by the same guy a good 5+ times while having several GOLDEN opportunities to snatch him up is pretty much unforgivable.

I disagree. Dubya was asleep at the switch. He cared about star wars and his golf gamd and his Attorney general cared about porn. terrorism was WAY down the priority list.

Watch Michael Moore much? The fact you think I'd actually buy your line of crap is an insult to my intelligence or an indication of yours.

To follow your supposed logic, you would have to blame it on dozens upon dozens of "bad" elections, Dems included, since most of Congress voted for the war.

Damn you live in a myth world, and when he did it was wag the dog. I would hope Richard Clarke would have cleared that up for you. Clarke's testimony was clear on where the failure lie - George W. Bush - 911 happened on W's watch.

Including 100 Democrats.

nearly all the republicans voted to give the president the use of force.

a majority of congressional democrats voted against it. I remain quite proud of those democrats.
